Your Guide To Knowing WHY You DO What

You Do

Written by: Lindsay Sibson

I’m willing to bet you’ve asked yourself this question at least once in the past week…

“Whhhhhhhhy did I do THAT?”

Perhaps it was something you said to someone or you ate that 3rd slice of pizza when you told yourself you would only have 2… Your actions are being driven from something deep inside you.

Curious as to WHY you do what you DO?

Take the next 22 minutes to listen to the incredibly thought-provoking Ted Talk in which Tony Robbins will guide you in discovering your driving forces:

NOTES FROM THE TALK:

TWO Key Questions To Ask Yourself:

  • What is your MOTIVE for action?
  • What is it that drives you in your life TODAY?

Your 3 Decisions To Destiny

Every day and every moment of your life is being guided and is influenced by these three decisions:

What am I going to focus on?
  • Focus = feeling
    • Conscious or unconsciously
    • Emotions create action and is the force of life
  • Past, present, future
  • Self or others?
What does it mean?
  • Is it the end of the beginning?
  • Are you being punished or rewarded?
What are you going to do?
  • Are you going to give up or move forward?
  • “Decision is the ultimate power.”
  • “The defining factor isn’t resources, it’s resourcefulness.”

What SHAPES YOU

You are being shaped by two individual forces:

1. STATE: your “in the moment” emotional and physical

2. LONG TERM: your world view and model of the world

    • This is what molds meaning, emotion and action

These two forces are influencing your life and the lives of your family and friends. Knowing WHAT drives you and other people will help you influence yourself and those around you. You can further discover why you do what you do by asking yourself:

  • What is your target? What are you after?
  • What is your belief system telling you about how to reach your target (and get your needs)?
  • What “FUEL” will you pick? This is based on your needs of personality and spirit:

Needs of the personality

    • Certainty – avoid pain and be comfortable
    • Uncertainty – variety and surprise
    • Significance – feeling important, special and unique
    • Connection – intimacy, friendship, prayer, nature

Needs of the spirit:

    • Grow – something to give of value
    • Contribution – beyond yourself

Transformation can happen by exploring your emotions, your needs and your beliefs (what is controlling you). Not only will this benefit your life and help you understand why you do what you do, but you will also be able to recognize the driving force in other people.

As a result, the “things that you do” will bring fulfillment, happiness, connection and more to your life and drive you to make positive contributions to the lives of others as well!

What Our Clients Say*

During my FitLife transformation, I lost 70 pounds! That's why I signed up for the protocol, but the most exciting result is that I found ME in the process. I had been hiding under a pile of pounds, self-doubt, and grief! FitLife changed my life and I knew I had to share it with others.

-Lynne, Longwood FL

I started with Fitlife back in 2011-2012…I wrote into Fitlife asking for an extreme amount of help. I was 300 pounds, with high cholesterol, and Drew helped me transform my life. I lost over 130 pounds and I no longer have high cholesterol. Not only did I lose weight, so did my husband, who lost over 70 pounds!
