You Will Be Shocked By What Caused This Child’s Massive Tooth Decay!

Written by: Kat Gal

When you take your child to the dentist, you may expect everything to be fine. They are young, after all. If your child is a sugar-lover, you may get a sad surprise though.

Most children eat a tremendous amount of sugar in today’s world. One 3-year-old boy in New Zealand had to go through 11 teeth extractions because of drinking sugary soda through his sippy cup and eating sugary snacks.

Sugar Consumption In The U.S.

This shocking story may be coming from the other side of the world, but the problem is similar in the U.S. as well.

The American Heart Association recommends women a maximum of 6 teaspoons of sugar a day, no more than 9 for men. Considering that a 20 oz cola drink contains 15 teaspoons of sugar, most Americans are way over their daily amount. Soda, soft drinks, candy, cookies, bakery products, dips, dressings and even seemingly savory foods, such as french fries are filled with processed sugar.

According to public health advocates, soft drinks are creating an alarmingly high level of cavities and eroding teeth in both children and adults.

It’s not only the sugar, but the citric acid in the preservatives and artificial flavors lead to the erosion of the enamel too.

Other Health Risks Of Added Sugar

Sugar is not only bad for your teeth, but also your overall health.

It is linked to higher risk of insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, cardiovascular disease, metabolic syndrome, obesity and cancer. Obesity – often as a result of too much sugar – can lead to cardiovascular disease, prediabetes, diabetes, sleep apnea, bone and joint issues, stroke and other health issues. It can lead to poor self-esteem, social problems and mental health issues as well.

What Can You Do?

To prevent children (and adults) from having an extensive amount of tooth decay, quit soda and limit your sugar intake overall. To prevent other diseases and issues that may be a threat from added processed sugar, follow the guidelines and limit or eliminate processed sugar. If you eat sugar, turn to natural and preferably fiber-rich options, including fruits, sweet vegetables and sweet root vegetables.

If you like soda or juices, turn to green juices and superfood juices instead. Try our Organifi Red Juice. It tastes like kool-aid, but has less than 1 percent of sugar in it. Made with superfoods, Organifi Red can boost your metabolism, help your weight loss goals and enhance your brain power.

Your teeth and body can stay healthy if you choose natural, real food options.

How will you protect you and your children’s teeth? What are your favorite sweet vegetables or fruits to snack on? Share away in the comments section!

And remember, we’re in this together.
