You Should Start Oil Pulling – Because It Might Actually WORK

By Kat Gal

“Oil pulling? What on EARTH is that?”

That was my first reaction when I first saw the term oil pulling somewhere.

“What?! I would NEVER do that.”

That was my second reaction once I read an entire article on it.

I quickly turned to google to read more about the issue; I was not convinced. It seemed like a strange concept and a gross idea to swish oil around my mouth to detox.

Then a couple of days later, I decided to give it a shot. And now I’ve been an avid oil puller for about 3 weeks.

What Is Oil Pulling?

Oil pulling is an ancient practice used in Ayurvedic medicine to detoxify, purify and strengthen the body. The idea is that the process of oil pulling – swishing oil around your mouth for about 20 minutes – ‘pulls’ harmful bacteria and toxins out of your blood stream. The oil absorbs these toxins and then you spit it out.

Why Is Oil Pulling A Good Idea?

Practicing oil pulling is meant to prevent and help many ailments of the body, including:

  • Overall detoxification
  • Better breath and whiter teeth
  • Toothaches
  • Bleeding gums
  • Headache and migraine relief (you see my interest in the practice!)
  • Acne, eczema and other skin conditions
  • Supports normal kidney function
  • Arthritis relief
  • Correcting hormonal imbalance
  • Inflammation
  • Reduces sinus congestion
  • Increasing metabolism
  • Insomnia
  • Reducing allergy symptoms
  • Ulcers and stomach diseases
  • Improved vision

Sounds like it can help everything. Too good to be true? Maybe, maybe not. While I can’t say I am 100% convinced yet, I feel like why not? It’s worth a shot.

The first time I did it, I found it to be a disgusting practice and barely made it to 10  minutes. The second time it was easier. By the third time, it was an easy normal practice. It’s best to use organic, cold-pressed vegetable oil (sesame oil is a popular choice).

I wake up and start my day with my oil. While oil pulling, I prepare lemon water and veggies for my juice, do some journaling, read, or even meditate. I actually find oil pulling to be a rather calming practice.

What Our Clients Say*

During my FitLife transformation, I lost 70 pounds! That's why I signed up for the protocol, but the most exciting result is that I found ME in the process. I had been hiding under a pile of pounds, self-doubt, and grief! FitLife changed my life and I knew I had to share it with others.

-Lynne, Longwood FL

I started with Fitlife back in 2011-2012…I wrote into Fitlife asking for an extreme amount of help. I was 300 pounds, with high cholesterol, and Drew helped me transform my life. I lost over 130 pounds and I no longer have high cholesterol. Not only did I lose weight, so did my husband, who lost over 70 pounds!
