You Can Use Pumpkin Juice To Boost Skin And Hair Health

We all know that pumpkin is yummy and there are plenty of benefits that go along with eating pumpkin. Pumpkin is great for your eyesight, digestive issues and can even reduce high cholesterol levels.

On top of the amazing benefits that you get from eating pumpkin, there are even more benefits that your body gets when you juice a pumpkin, benefits such as helping your kidneys and urinary system to run smoothly, reducing the symptoms of gall bladder problems and kidney stones and even preventing the thickening and stiffening of your blood vessels.

While there are so many internal benefits of drinking pumpkin juice, there are also several external benefits that you can get too – benefits for both your skin and hair!

Skin Benefits Of Pumpkin Juice:

  • Pumpkin juice can help remedy the annoying symptoms of bites, burns and inflammation. It contains a coolant property that can help reduce the symptoms of several skin irritations. It is loaded with antioxidants such as vitamin A, C, E and zinc, which makes pumpkin juice a great way to reduce skin irritations.
  • Drinking pumpkin juice can help keep your skin soft. Pumpkin is loaded with vitamin C, E and beta-carotene. These vitamins provide properties that help keep your skin soft and looking radiant.
  • While this doesn’t involve drinking pumpkin juice, the juice is commonly used in hydrating and anti-wrinkle creams. This is because of the high nutritional content that is found in pumpkins. When pumpkin juice is mixed with ingredients such as lemon juice, honey, yogurt and vitamin E oil, there are several benefits that you can get from rubbing it on your skin. 

Hair Benefits Of Pumpkin Juice:

  • Pumpkin juice helps to promote the regrowth of hair. For those who suffer with hair loss or thinning hair, drinking pumpkin juice can do just the trick. Pumpkin juice contains vitamin A and a high level of potassium, which both help in promoting the regrowth of hair.
  • Pumpkin juice can also work as a moisturizer for dry and damaged hair. The best way for pumpkin juice to be used to moisturize your hair is to create a “conditioner.” 

Pumpkin “Conditioner”

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups chopped and cooked pumpkin
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp yogurt
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil 

Directions:

1. Puree the pumpkin in a blender.

2. Add the yogurt, coconut oil and honey to the pureed pumpkin and blend.

3. Apply the mixture to your hair and cover it with a plastic cap.

4. Leave the mixture on for 15 minutes.

5. Wash the mixture from your hair using your regular shampoo and conditioner.

Not sure how to juice a pumpkin to get the full benefits? Here’s how!

1. Purchase a pumpkin that is meant to be eaten or made into pie. These are usually the smaller pumpkins.

2. Make sure to wash the outside of the pumpkin thoroughly.

3. Using a vegetable peeler, peel the hard skin of the pumpkin. Make sure to get as much hard skin off of the pumpkin that you can. The hard skin can clog your juicer.

4. Cut the pumpkin into quarters.

5. Remove the pulp and the seeds (save the seeds to bake them later. They contain their own benefits!).

6. Cut the pumpkin into small segments.

7. Throw the pumpkin segments into your juice and juice as you normally would.
