You Are Enough! How To Love Yourself As You Are

Imagine going to a shoe store. You spot a shoe that you like. What do you do? You ask for a pair to try on in your size.
What if it doesn’t fit?
Do you beat yourself up? Do you want to chop off a toe or file off some flesh? Do you swear to go on a diet or start saving for plastic surgery? Do you feel inadequate, less than others and not enough? Do you compare your feet to the feet of those around you?
I bet you simply ask for the next size up. If the shoe still doesn’t fit despite the right length, you accept that these nice shoes are simply not right for the shape of your feet. You look for other styles without any bad feelings.
The size and shape of your feet don’t make or break your day. They don’t determine your mood. They don’t make you feel good enough or not good enough.
Do you feel the same way about the rest of your body? Can you accept it and love it as is? Do you feel enough and wonderful, regardless of your body shape and size?
If yes, congratulations! That’s awesome! You are an inspiration.
Most people though are much more judgmental when it comes to their bodies.
With summer here, you may worry about your beach body or bikini body. You may go on crash diets, juice cleanses and spend hours at the gym just to change your body. You may feel good or bad depending on the number on the scale or the size of your clothes. You may nit-pick your body, looking for problem areas you can beat yourself up over.
Stop that, my friend!
You are GOOD ENOUGH JUST THE WAY YOU ARE. You are already perfect, lovable and beautiful.
You may not look like people on the magazines. Guess what?! They don’t either. Photoshop, makeup and filming from the right angles can do wonders. Trends also change. What may be considered ideal today is likely going to change for the next decade. Back in the Renaissance, curvy women were the most beautiful, celebrating their extra pounds, in the second part of the 90’s, tall, skeletal bodies with no fat were in, the 2000’s began to celebrate ‘strong as the new skinny’ with lean, strong and muscular bodies, while plus-size models gained popularity. Yet, models are still usually tall and young, fitting into current industry standards.
You are not a trend. You are not a picture. You are YOU. A complete, beautiful human being that deserves the best.
Each body is unique. Everyone has a different body. Small bodies and big bodies, able-bodied bodies and disabled-bodies: they are all beautiful. Your body changes through the years and through the seasons.
There is no one right body. There is no perfect body. There are only bodies and they are all perfect.
You are perfect. You are good enough.
Start loving yourself as you are.
What if you are not as healthy as you wish to be? What if you are lacking energy and burdened by illness? What if you actually need to lose some weight or perhaps gain some weight for your health?
Still love yourself.
Health is important! I celebrate you for wanting vibrancy, energy and vitality. I celebrate you for taking charge of your health and making changes.
Don’t do it for the wrong reasons. Don’t just lose weight for vanity, but for your health as necessary.
Make dietary and lifestyle changes for your health.
Drink that green juice because you love the heck out of your whole being.
Love yourself through the entire way. If you are dealing with illness, stop beating yourself up and rejecting your sick body. It needs extra love and care. Accept where you are. Love yourself as you are. Love yourself at every stage and each step of the journey.
Pursue health because you love yourself. You deserve the best health you can have. You deserve to feel good and feel energetic. You deserve everything you want in life.
Tell You That You Love You
Look in the mirror and look into your eyes. Tell yourself “I love you” over and over again. This may be difficult at first. You may even cry. Trust me, this daily practice can change your relationship with yourself.
Practice positive affirmations. “I love and accept myself.” “I love my body as it is.” “I nourish myself with vibrant healthy food.” “I am strong and beautiful.” “I am enough.” Repeat them throughout the day. You can say them out loud or quietly or even write them down in your journal.
Show Your Body Some Love
Give yourself a hug. Touch your body with love. Give a little self-massage to your tired shoulders. Talk to your body and thank it for supporting you. Appreciate where your body is and how it has carried you so far.
Let go of unrealistic expectations. Let go of images in the media. Let go of the idea of the perfect body. Open yourself up to love, health and happiness.
Be In the Now
Don’t think about how your body looked in the past. Don’t create unrealistic body goals for the future. Be in the now. Love your body as it is today whatever size, shape and health it’s at.
Nourish Your Body
Eat nourishing whole foods. Greens, vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds, legumes and beans are all nutrient-dense foods that can help you to regain health and vibrancy. By eating healthy you show your body that you truly care.
Remember, You Are Perfect
Remember, you are good enough as you are. The universe has created you perfect. You are on your journey for a reason. Walk your path with love for yourself and everything around you.
Shifting your mindset from a comparison, vanity and not feeling good enough to true self-love is powerful. This simple shift can create a difference in your health and happiness. I’ve experienced it myself and I want you to experience this magical change in yourself as well.
Love yourself to the fullest. Show your beautiful smile. Go after the health and happiness you deserve.
