Why Your Dreams Haven’t Come True Yet

I have always wondered why so many people set and reset the same New Year’s resolutions. Year after year, you chase after your ultimate dream of having a healthier body, or a more muscular one, or of developing a whole different diet or lifestyle, etc. just like you did the year before and possibly even the year before that.

I see the same people making these same resolutions over and over again and can’t help but ponder why this happens.

My original theory was that some people are afraid of failure. But that didn’t explain enough by itself. So then I thought that maybe it’s because some of us are afraid of success, but that concept never really made sense to me either.

After taking this into deeper consideration, I’ve realized exactly what it is – we’re all just trying to keep our dreams alive.

What I mean by that is, whenever you set a goal or ambition, you are establishing a dream of a better life. Success, happiness, whatever it may be, your dreams become your intended trajectory.

But then something funny seems to happen. You’d think this process would be pretty straightforward, especially for those with the dream of a leaner, more fit body.

But it’s not that simple at all and here’s why:

You’re afraid of failing and killing your dream.

You feel that if you set out to lose weight with your new program and fail, then your dream will disappear for you. But when the next year comes around, you talk yourself out of that mindset and re-motivate yourself – you get a new program and everything – and then just end up doing the same process over again.

I believe you do this because it’s easier to acquire more programs that somehow always promise to do most of the work for you, than to fully commit yourself to your dreams.

But you CAN do this. Dreams don’t die, not unless you allow them to. Failure or not, your dreams are still possible and can be achieved if you are willing to believe in yourself and apply the keys that will help lead you to success.

Here are those keys to success that could turn this whole year around:

1. You have to disassociate yourself from the outcomes. If you don’t, you’ll never take the leap and see it through the way you really want to – the way you really need to.

2. Challenge yourself to do less. So often you give yourself the ultimatum to go all in or not at all. This invariably leads to failure and frustration. It’s okay to give yourself permission to do a little less. Pick one very small task to do every day for the next few weeks and watch your work ethic start working for you rather than against you.

3. Know your tendencies. If you know you’re least productive in the morning, don’t plan on trying to make big habit changes during that time. Instead, work with your tendencies and schedule your critical tasks (i.e. working out, meal prep, etc.) at the time of day when you’re more likely to be successful.

In this new year, I want you to allay your fears – no, I want you to charge your fears head on by becoming okay with your “worst case scenario” and realizing that it’s not the end of the world or the death of your dreams – it’s merely a chance for you to get back up and become all the stronger.

Once you’re able to do that, you’ll finally be liberated enough to start making your dreams your reality. Here’s to a year of change and success, friends!

What Our Clients Say*

During my FitLife transformation, I lost 70 pounds! That's why I signed up for the protocol, but the most exciting result is that I found ME in the process. I had been hiding under a pile of pounds, self-doubt, and grief! FitLife changed my life and I knew I had to share it with others.

-Lynne, Longwood FL

I started with Fitlife back in 2011-2012…I wrote into Fitlife asking for an extreme amount of help. I was 300 pounds, with high cholesterol, and Drew helped me transform my life. I lost over 130 pounds and I no longer have high cholesterol. Not only did I lose weight, so did my husband, who lost over 70 pounds!
