Why You Should Start Earthing Today

Growing up, I never liked to wear shoes and to this day, being in my 30’s, I still hate wearing shoes. It’s not that I don’t “like” shoes as my closet is FULL of them.
Many people might think it’s “gross” or “disgusting,” but there’s just something about being able to feel the ground under my bare feet, maybe even a little dirt or mud sometimes.
There are plenty of reasons to walk barefoot, such as having decreased impact when your foot hits the ground, causing you to have a lighter step and less impact on your knees and other joints. Another reason to go barefoot more often is increased muscle tone. You don’t have anything attached to your feet, so your legs and feet are having to do more work, causing your legs to have better muscles.
While there are many more physical reasons to go barefoot more often, have you ever thought of the mental reasons for being barefoot?
When you go barefoot, you give your health and your mind a much needed boost. Your feet are able to mesh with the soil and the Earth, an activity known as Earthing or grounding. It’s that tingling sensation that runs up throughout your body that you feel when you step in dirt or grass with barefeet.
Earth is an “electrical” planet, meaning that when your feet connect with the ground, your body soaks up the electrons that come from the Earth. These electrons are often referred to as “nature’s biggest antioxidants,” which help to diminish and neutralize free radicals that can cause damage to your body.
Earthing can also help to harmonize your body’s biological rhythms and help to knock out inflammation and pain, along with a few other amazing benefits.
