Why YOU Need To Be Your Best Friend And How To Be

When making a change in your life, it is undeniably helpful – if not absolutely necessary – to have a support system to cheer you on, to keep your accountable and to inspire you along the way.

It is not enough to have a support system. You can have an entire team of personal cheerleaders, friends, family, communities, coaches, healers, therapists and anyone else supporting you – it only truly works if you also believe in yourself.
You are the only person who is with you 24/7. You are the one who knows you the best. You are the one who is capable of the deepest connection with yourself.
You have to become your own best friend. This is not negotiable, but is absolutely beautiful and will make you a powerful superhuman.
When you are able to take responsibility, hold yourself accountable for your own happiness and health and are able to hold your own hand along the way, you are absolutely limitless.
By creating this friendship with yourself, you are practicing self-love and developing an unbreakable bond with yourself. This will help you to thrive in all areas of your life.
Here Are 4 Steps To Become Your Own Best Friend:
1. Admit What You Refuse To Acknowledge
I must warn you, this can be painful at first, but it is absolutely necessary. If you do not know the root cause of your issues, you will not be able to release them and create a sustainable change in your life. You may get rid of one issue, but a new one may replace it, unless you find the core issue.
Once you have the core underlying issue, you must allow yourself to feel it, no matter how painful it is. It can’t rain forever and I promise you, the pain will stop. Just allow yourself to feel it, sit with yourself, hug yourself and let it pass.
As you feel your deepest feelings, you will realize that you are inherently good inside. The pain will melt away and will be replaced with peace and balance. The release of the past will allow room for the new, for love and for happiness.
Yoga, meditation, spiritual retreats and journaling can all help you with this process.
2. Get Healthy And Clean
When eating healthy, unprocessed, alkalizing, organic, mostly (or completely) plant-based whole foods, your body can thrive. Toxins will leave your body and ailments can heal.
A healthy body can provide a beautiful base for your mind and soul. It will leave room for peace in mind. Formulating a positive dialogue with yourself and others will become easier. The possibilities are limitless. Allow yourself to experience all the health and happiness that you are capable of.
3. Do More YOU
You deserve to have time for yourself. You need it. The better you feel about yourself, the more you will be able to give to your friends, family and the world around you.
Think about what lights you up inside? What kind of activities and ideas inspire you? Do you have it? Then go, do it. If you are not sure, try out different things until you find what makes your heart smile. Don’t suppress pleasure and don’t be afraid to play either.
You are in charge of your own happiness, so go create it.
4. Share Your Love
Self-love is not only about loving yourself and your life, but also sharing your experience with others. Offer encouragement, support, inspiration and kindness without expectations.
Showing your love can be scary. It may put you in a vulnerable position. You may fear judgment or rejection. It is natural to feel this way, but you don’t have to be. Step out of your comfort zone. Let go of your fears. Be vulnerable. Be authentic. Be loving.
Everyone has the power to change their own life. You have the power to change yours and you have the ability to witness and support others changing theirs. Together, we can make a beautiful difference this way.
Don’t underestimate the power of love. Choose to become your own best friend. Choose to love yourself, then spread the love with everyone you possible can.
