Why Grapes Are Awesome For Heart Health

Written by: Brandi Monasco

Grapes make a great snack. Not only are they sweet and juicy, but did you know that they also carry loads of benefits for your heart as well?

These small juicy joys affect your body in multiple ways to contribute to better heart health. Here are a few ways in which eating grapes can help better your heart.

Grapes contain lots of antioxidants called polyphenols, which help combat against damaging chemicals called radicals in the body. Once these antioxidants destroy the radicals, many toxic processes are halted so that the body transitions into a state of health.

With heart health, these radicals work in the delicate blood vessels of the heart also. They damage the blood vessels to cause deposition of fat in the vessels, which causes them to narrow, blocking off the blood supply to the heart. The antioxidants in grapes combat these radicals to prevent the blocking of the heart’s blood vessels, ultimately preventing major diseases like atherosclerosis.

Grapes also help lower the bad fats in the blood, which can cling to the blood vessels of the heart. These harmful fats cause the blood vessels to get extremely narrow, which results in less delivery of nutrients to the heart, basically starving it, which leads to dangerous heart diseases, including heart attacks. The beneficial contents of grapes can help prevent these dangerous turn of events, justifying their use for the heart.

Grapes also have a role in controlling your blood pressure. With good maintenance of blood pressure comes better stability for the heart and hence, a healthier and longer life.

Grapes contain useful nutrients that thin the blood so as to prevent blood clots, which can block any circulation in the body. This helps prevent potentially dangerous blockages in the heart and also in other parts of the body like the brain, which could have disastrous consequences. Thinning of the blood also allows the heart to pump blood more effectively and with less effort, this leads to less work of the heart and therefore, less fatigue.

With so many heart benefits, it’s surprising that grapes aren’t prescribed for heart patients! Grapes are loaded to the brim with useful benefits that are not only beneficial to your heart, but also carry a great many advantages for the other parts of your body as well. The heart is a vital organ that’s pumping health means your health. All our systems are linked to this one vital life source. Taking care of this organ will result in an overall benefit to the whole body and ultimately a lifelong benefit to us.

To enjoy more grapes in your daily life, you can just have them as they are, or you can add them to fruit or chicken salads to add a juicy flair. What’s your favorite way to enjoy them? Please share with us in the comments below!

What Our Clients Say*

During my FitLife transformation, I lost 70 pounds! That's why I signed up for the protocol, but the most exciting result is that I found ME in the process. I had been hiding under a pile of pounds, self-doubt, and grief! FitLife changed my life and I knew I had to share it with others.

-Lynne, Longwood FL

I started with Fitlife back in 2011-2012…I wrote into Fitlife asking for an extreme amount of help. I was 300 pounds, with high cholesterol, and Drew helped me transform my life. I lost over 130 pounds and I no longer have high cholesterol. Not only did I lose weight, so did my husband, who lost over 70 pounds!
