When Something Bad Happens, Do This And See What Happens

“If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.” – Dr. Wayne Dyer
Bad things happen to everyone.
Occasionally something REALLY bad will happen to you. You might find yourself standing in a place lower than you’ve ever been before.
I’ve stood in low places. More than once.
I felt like things were never going to get better.
When we hit rock bottom in our life, we have a choice: we can either lay down in the mud and curse the universe and give up… OR we can choose to use that mud to paint on our well-earned warrior stripes!
I have a little trick that can help you when things get really bad.
This trick will help you:
- Take a step back
- Realign your perspective
- Focus on what really matters
- Find the strength to move forward
The next time something bad happens to you and you feel hopeless I want you to try this simple meditation. Save this one for the bad days:
|Meditation For The Bad Days
Imagine you are floating out of your body… up and out… until you are looking down at yourself from above.
Sit there and watch yourself for a minute. Pay attention to details. What clothes are you wearing? What’s around you? What sounds and smells are in your environment?
Then fly higher and higher until you are at a bird’s eye view.
Keep going until you’re only a tiny dot. Keep going until you disappear entirely and all you can see is the ground and maybe some clouds beneath you.
Fly upwards until you leave the earth’s atmosphere and our planet is a simple globe before you.
Take a deep breath… and just sit there for a moment. Just breathe. Just look at the beautiful planet you live on.
It feels like you could reach out and take the world in your hands.
Everything is silent.
Just sit there and breathe. Don’t fight any thoughts that come, but don’t entertain them either.
If the thoughts and the weight won’t leave you alone, continue moving backwards until our planet is just a small speck in a world of stars.
Stay there until you feel the weight slip away with every breath.
Maybe only astronauts know what this kind of feeling is really like.
But doing this will help you remember your greater purpose.
It takes your vision and pulls it backwards so that the mountains in your life seem like small bumps in the road.
Suddenly all the bills… the worries… the daily annoyances… will become tiny in comparison to the things that really matter
Henry David Thoreau said, “It’s not what you look at that matters. It’s what you see.”
The challenges before you now may seem insurmountable… impossible… unachievable…
But pull back and take a look at your life from a more heart-centered, self-believing point of view and you will realize that you CAN overcome them.
You already have the potential within you… and if you truly realized that, you would become unstoppable.
So, take a step back, breathe and just see what happens when you apply this principle to your life.
And remember, we’re in this together.
