When Facing Any Hard Situation, Here’s What To Ask Yourself

Why is this happening to me?

This a question you may ask over and over again, especially when facing difficult situations in your life.

Sometimes it’s just many small things piling up. Your electric bills seem higher than normal. Your car breaks down. You lose your gloves and now your hands are freezing. Then your puppy pees on the rug. One thing after another. But why is this all happening to me? You may ask yourself.

Or you may be facing a more serious difficult situation. Perhaps you are struggling with a chronic or even acute health condition. Maybe you are facing some family or relationship problems. Maybe you feel dissatisfied at your job and can barely drag yourself to work.  But why is this all happening to me? You may ask yourself.

But there are two major problems with this question.

The first problem is that you put yourself into victimhood. Why is this happening TO me? This mentality makes you feel like an observer that life is just happening to, but you can’t do nothing about it.

Secondly, this is a question. When your brain hears a question, it automatically – though sometimes subconsciously – starts looking for answers. If you ask yourself why is this happening TO you or why are you are a VICTIM, your brain will start looking for answers. Be sure that it will come up with some great reasons why you are being a victim and some great things or people to blame for your situation.

Great. You are not responsible. Poor you.

But what if you could sit in the driver’s seat of your life?

What if even seemingly bad things are there to teach you a lesson, to push you towards better yet unexplored territories and there to help you transform your life for the better, if you let it?

What if life is not happening TO you, but is happening FOR you?

That’s right. You can change your mindset, change your mood and change your life just by modifying a simple question.

When you are dealing with a difficulty, ask yourself:

Why is this happening FOR me?

Your brain will start looking for answers. It will come up with reasons why the situation is a learning experience. It will bring up ideas how you can make change and create magic out of darkness.

By this simple mindset shift, you will be in the driver’s seat again. You will be empowered, inspired and ready to create a better life.
