Many women love to keep their hair long and oftentimes, that means spending a lot of money on hair care products to keep their locks healthy and shiny.
What many do not know though is that the secret to having long, healthy hair is not necessarily the products that you put in your hair, but what you put into your body.
As with your health, what you put into your body plays a major effect on your hair. A clean, healthy diet improves your health and also does the same for your hair. A diet full of fatty, unhealthy foods will harm your health and can also possibly be seen in your hair.
The best way to make sure that your hair is healthy is to make sure that your diet is full of nutrients and vitamins, the ones that you body essentially needs!
Here’s a list of foods that you can eat to make your hair long, shiny and healthy!
Fatty Fish
Fatty fish are loaded with omega-3 fatty acids. These fatty acids have numerous properties that not only benefit your health, but also have incredible benefits for your beauty, one of which includes shiny strands of hair. The shafts of your hair are actually made up of about 3% omega-3 fatty acids. These acids are found in the cell membranes of you scalp and help to preserve the natural oils that keep your hair and scalp hydrated.
Spinach
Spinach contains protein as well as vitamins A and C, all of which your body uses to help produce oil in your scalp to increase hair growth. Without vitamins A and C, you can end up with brittle, thin hair or even hair loss.
Eggs
Eggs contain sulfur, which is one of their main ingredients. Sulfur is an essential nutrient that basically helps in numerous ways, such as everything from helping the absorption of vitamin B to helping your liver function better. The sulfur found in eggs are also necessary for the production of keratin and collagen.
Coconuts
Coconuts within themselves have many properties that benefit your body, but they are even better for your hair. The water that comes from coconuts contains potassium, which acts as a natural electrolyte that helps to move nutrients throughout your cells. Coconut water also acts as a natural hydration aid, which helps to keep your hair hydrated. Coconut oil is very high in healthy fats as well as vitamins E and K along with other minerals. Coconut oil contains the best natural nutrients that can benefit your hair.
Walnuts
Walnuts contain both omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. Both of these fatty acids help your body to retain moisture, which gives your hair that healthy shine. Walnuts also contain protein, which helps to boost your hair follicles that help make your hair fuller and stronger.
Pumpkin Seeds
Pumpkin seeds are full of zinc, vitamins A and K and omega-3 fatty acids. Each of these vitamins and nutrients are essential to building a healthy hair shaft.
