What Reflexology Therapy Can Do For You

Did you know that reflexology is not just a fancy term for a painful foot massage, but that it has countless remedying benefits for your body?

Reflexology is an ancient healing therapy from China and Egypt. Just like acupuncture, reflexology uses pressure points to relieve pain and bring your body back to health, but instead of needles, it uses pressure from the therapist’s fingers.

What Is Reflexology?

The goal of reflexology is to stimulate your organs, remove any blocks in your system, work on your bodily symptoms and reverse any disease. It is a holistic therapy aiming to achieve free energy flow, benefiting your body, mind and spirit.

Even though reflexology has been around for thousands of years, it is not well researched with little pure scientific evidence to back it up. Yet personal experiences show the benefits of it from stress relief to better blood circulation. I can personally vouch for it as I just walked out of a fantastic reflexology session in Bali feeling lighter and happier in my body.

The remedying benefits of reflexology include:

  • Improved energy
  • Less stress and anxiety
  • Pain relief
  • Increased immunity
  • Better circulation
  • Reduced blood pressure
  • Relief from congestion
  • Stimulation of internal organs

How Does Reflexology Work?

Reflexology follows your meridians, or energy lines mapping your body. Each of your organs have specific pressure points out of over two thousand points within fourteen major channels.

Though reflexology can be practiced in any area of your body, the most common areas are foot and hand reflexology as your meridian channels meet there.

Personally, I’ve only experienced foot reflexology where the points are accessed through the soles of your feet.

Which Areas Of Your Feet Are Connected To Which Areas Of Your Body?

  • Toes: head, neck, organs
  • Inside strip: spine
  • Widest diameter: chest
  • Smallest diameter: waistline area, stomach, intestines, bladder
  • Heels: pelvic region, legs buttocks
  • Tip of your toes: sinuses
  • Center of the foot: kidney, bladder
  • Back of the hind foot: small intestine

There are so many details and trigger points, that it is the best for you to study a reflexology map.

What Does Reflexology Feel Like?

The benefit of reflexology comes from accessing the trigger points rather than heavy pressure. That said, reflexology can be painful. Swelling, tension or bad pain in an area can mean that you have a blockage or issue with some of the corresponding areas. A good reflexologist should also inform you if they found some blockage or issue.

How To Find A Reflexologist And How Often Should You Go?

If you are interested in trying reflexology, it is important to find a trained professional. You can check out the Reflexology Associations or talk to your friends for testimonials.

One session can last anywhere from 30 to 45 minutes. While one session can be beneficial, for maximum health benefits it is a good idea to go regularly. Nothing is a quick fix after all. One to three sessions per week for a period of time is recommended to work on health issues and one session a month is a good idea for maintainance. Your therapist will be sure to guide you through the process necessary for your personal health.

If you haven’t had reflexology before, I encourage you to try it out.

What Our Clients Say*

During my FitLife transformation, I lost 70 pounds! That's why I signed up for the protocol, but the most exciting result is that I found ME in the process. I had been hiding under a pile of pounds, self-doubt, and grief! FitLife changed my life and I knew I had to share it with others.

-Lynne, Longwood FL

I started with Fitlife back in 2011-2012…I wrote into Fitlife asking for an extreme amount of help. I was 300 pounds, with high cholesterol, and Drew helped me transform my life. I lost over 130 pounds and I no longer have high cholesterol. Not only did I lose weight, so did my husband, who lost over 70 pounds!
