Trying To Lose Weight? Cinnamon’s Going To Be Your New Favorite Spice
Written by: Brandi Monasco
You have probably seen cinnamon as no more than just a regular spice that is commonly used. Cinnamon has been added to foods to enhance the taste countless times; however, there is more to this spice than just flavoring.
Cinnamon also has a role in one of the most demanding issues today; WEIGHT LOSS.
1. Cinnamon Can Help Control Insulin.
Insulin is the hormone that your body uses to control blood glucose. Normally, insulin helps decrease the blood glucose so that extra sugar in your blood doesn’t get converted to fat.
However, when insulin levels are low, as in with diabetes, the blood is flooded with glucose every time you eat and is converted into fat, which makes it very difficult for you to lose weight. Cinnamon acts by controlling glucose. It helps increase its levels so that all the blood glucose is removed, making it easier for you to shed extra pounds.
2. Cinnamon Helps Control Blood Glucose.
As mentioned before, cinnamon has a direct hand in controlling the blood glucose. It decreases these levels, forcing the body to burn its fat in order to bring these levels back up, which is how cinnamon basically works in inducing weight loss.
Not only does cinnamon have a hand in blood glucose, but including this spice in your meals also results in less glucose being absorbed from the intestine and therefore, less fat is being produced. Both these factors play a major part in aiding your weight loss.
3. Cinnamon Speeds Up Your Metabolism.
You may have heard about superfoods that increase your metabolism and ultimately force your body to use energy. Cinnamon is one of those superfoods, acting on your body’s cells to speed up all of its normal processes such as increasing energy demand and melting fat. Cinnamon requires considerable amounts of energy to metabolize, which also increases the demands of your body to stimulate weight loss.
4. Cinnamon Lowers Cholesterol Levels.
Cholesterol is “bad” fat in the body. Having high “bad” cholesterol levels can result in many heart diseases. Cinnamon helps decrease this bad fat. When there is less of this harmful fat circulating around within your body, less fat will be deposited in your body and you can continue on with your weight loss journey with more ease.
Cinnamon is found in powdered form as well as in sticks which can be grated into powder to be used in your favorite recipes.
