Try Reflexology To Relieve Seasonal Allergies

Written by: Kavata Kithome

If you are anything like me, spring is a dreadful time of the year for you. I envy those who never suffer from seasonal allergies and often wonder what it would be like not to ever have to worry about them.

For me, spring means itchy eyes, sniffling, sneezing, scratchy throat and even skin breakouts. I can never get enough of showering and often hide in the catacombs of my home just to get some relief.

This year, experts are saying that the allergy season will be more intense than usual; this leaves me wondering what I can do to find relief since we will be undergoing what the experts refer to as a “pollen tsunami.”

Allergies in most cases are not dangerous (unless you suffer from asthma); allergies are just annoyances that become worse if you are stressed. Because I am always looking for holistic and natural ways to heal, alleviate and find relief, as a health coach, I emphasize self-care as a big part of health and wellness and encourage my clients to get a spa day as often as possible.

One of my favorite services to get when I go to the spa is reflexology. It calms the nervous system and brings about a deep state of rest and relaxation. This is done by stimulating the reflex points on the feet, hands, face and ears.

Did you know there are over 1000 nerves in these areas?

By targeting these points through reflexology, you can experience a very soothing and nurturing feeling that leaves you clear and energized.

How Does Reflexology Work?

A session of reflexology not only releases tension and stress, but also affects the organs, glands and virtually every part of your body. This is because each part has its own pressure points located on the feet, hands, face and ears.

Here is a guide that indicates some reflex points on the feet that can be stimulated to help you breathe easier and bring you relief.

Using your thumb and or index finger, press and hold for five seconds on each of these 7 areas:

1. The sinuses (balls of the toes) – to unclog sinus cavities.

2. The pituitary or “master gland”  (center the big toe) – to stimulate and balance hormones secretions of all other gland.

3. The thymus gland (upper inner edge of ball of foot) – to strengthen your immune system.

4. The chest, lungs and bronchioles (center of ball of food ) – to release congestion.

5. The solar plexus/diaphragm (under ball of foot at center) – to reduce stress and relax breathing.

6. The adrenal glands (just above center of foot near inner edge) – to aid in production of cortisone/cortisol to reduce inflammation, boost energy levels that are depleted by allergy symptoms.

7. The ileocecal valve (lower outer edge of foot) – to help regulate mucus production.

Simply stimulating these points can help strengthen your immune system, balance your energy flow and – most importantly – promote overall wellness during this allergy season.

At Fitlife, we encourage mindset and visualization work that can help propel you forward towards your healthiest self. Imagine using the same visualization concept while in your deepest relaxed state and imagine yourself breathing easily and comfortably and being able to enjoy the spring season with no allergy symptoms.

What Our Clients Say*

During my FitLife transformation, I lost 70 pounds! That's why I signed up for the protocol, but the most exciting result is that I found ME in the process. I had been hiding under a pile of pounds, self-doubt, and grief! FitLife changed my life and I knew I had to share it with others.

-Lynne, Longwood FL

I started with Fitlife back in 2011-2012…I wrote into Fitlife asking for an extreme amount of help. I was 300 pounds, with high cholesterol, and Drew helped me transform my life. I lost over 130 pounds and I no longer have high cholesterol. Not only did I lose weight, so did my husband, who lost over 70 pounds!
