We’ve been going a little crazy talking about nuts lately. Since recent research has come out showing how regular consumption of nuts increases longevity, people have been itching to know more.

Today, I want to talk about the benefits of ALMONDS along with a bunch of ways you can incorporate them into your diet!

You don’t have to like chomping on raw nuts to enjoy the many health benefits almonds can provide to you.

7 Health Benefits Of Regular Almond Consumption

#1 Full Of Healthy Fats That Aid Weight Loss And Provide Energy

Nuts are a source of GOOD, HEALTHY fats which are vital for the body to get enough energy and fuel. Contrary to popular belief, not all fat makes you fat. BAD fats like trans fats (found in fried, fatty foods) definitely don’t do you any good, but there are a whole bunch of GOOD fats that are essential to survival and wellbeing.

Turns out that people who eat nuts regularly are actually THINNER than those who don’t ever eat them. So if you’re worried about their fat content… don’t be!

Check out this diagram below.

#2 Reduce Risk Of Heart Attack, Heart Disease And Lower Cholesterol

Studies have found that those who consume nuts at least five times each week have a 50% lower risk of having a heart attack. Eating almonds also helps to lower “bad” cholesterol levels and prevent dangerous blood clotting.

Almonds are full of flavonoids, which appear to benefit the artery walls from damage while also working with other vitamins to strengthen the cardiovascular system as a whole. This helps to lower one’s risk of developing a deadly heart disease.

#3 Great Snack Food For Diabetes Prevention

Studies have shown that almonds help to keep blood sugar levels regulated and also prevent insulin spiking when consumed after meals. Almonds are a great snack for those trying to avoid sugary, processed foods.

#4 Curb Cravings

Experts say that eating a handful of almonds during the day can help you to avoid cravings for sugary snacks.

#5 Build Strong Bones

According to WebMD, calcium isn’t the only mineral you need in order to build and maintain strong bones. Phosphorus, a mineral you can find in almonds, is also extremely important. It will also help to strengthen your teeth!

#6 Maintain A Healthy Brain

Almonds are considered one of the top foods to eat for brain health. They are packed with vitamin E, riboflavin and L-carnitine, all of which are nutrients that have been linked to maintained cognitive abilities through aging. They also boost overall brain activity. Studies suggest these nutrients may be key in reducing risk of Alzheimer’s disease.

#7 Alkalize

It has been agreed that disease CANNOT thrive in an alkaline environment. Your body is naturally meant to be slightly more alkaline than acidic and maintaining this pH is essential to feeling good and living free of illness. Almonds are one of the only nuts that have an alkalizing effect on your body.

7 Ways To Use Almonds

#1 Raw – Keep a few handfuls of almonds in your purse or bag for when you are out and about. When you get hungry, start craving something unhealthy or just need an energy boost to get you to the end of a workday, munch on some almonds.

#2 Soaked/Sprouted – Like all nuts and most seeds, almonds are coated with phytate (phytic acid), which is nature’s way of keeping a seed safe and preventing it from germinating before conditions are optimal. These can make nuts hard for the human system to digest. The best way to get rid of the phytic acid on almonds is to soak them for several hours before you eat them or add them to recipes.

Once soaked and sprouted, almonds explode with powerful enzymes and nutrients and become even more nutritious than they were when raw.

#3 Almond Flour – Almond flour is a great flour alternative in cooking and baking! It bakes more easily than coconut flour (not so crumbly) and tastes great. Almond flour is also completely gluten-free and a great substitute for those who are trying to avoid traditional grains.

#4 Almond Oil – Almond oil is popular in ayurvedic cooking and contains many health benefits. A lot of people like its smooth, soft flavor and find it easy to use in cooking. Almond oil is rich in vitamin E, which has benefits both for internal and external use. Because of its high smoke point, it won’t go bad if used in cooking. You can also use it on your skin, hair and nails to boost shine and overall health.

#5 Homemade Granola – Don’t forget to add almonds to your favorite homemade granola recipes! Here is one of our favorites: Chocolate Cranberry Granola.

#6 Smoothies – If you have a high-quality blender, throw a handful of almonds into your smoothie recipes. They add a rich, creamy texture and a host of nutrients.

#7 Almond Milk – Almond milk makes a great milk alternative for those trying to avoid dairy. Although you won’t find the same nutritional content in almond milk as you will in a handful of almonds, you also won’t find growth hormones, antibiotics and other nasty ingredients that are found in most milk brands. Almond milk makes a great smoothie base, can be added to cereal or granola, acts like milk in baking recipes and can be used to make tasty dairy-free ice cream.

If you are looking for something to add to your diet that will help boost energy, increase longevity, curb cravings and aid in weight loss, you have come to the right place! Nuts and seeds are one of nature’s most incredible nutrient-dense foods and a great addition to one’s diet.
