Chronic inflammation is a silent killer in the world today.
Chronic inflammation can progress slowly and go unnoticed for many years. The symptoms include fatigue, brain fog, aging, aches and pains, yet many people look at these symptoms as normal parts of life – until the trouble hits in the form of cancer, heart disease or other serious issues.
Diet and lifestyle are both super important in reducing inflammation, although fighting inflammation can be complex and there really isn’t a quick fix. But herbs and spices are extremely helpful in reducing and eliminating inflammation from our body, which I am going to explain here.
When cooking, making a raw dish or juicing, try adding more anti-inflammatory spices to your diet. They are nature’s medicine that have been used for thousands of years by many cultures and are largely supported by research.

Ginger is one of the top anti-inflammatory foods. It shares several mechanisms that are also found in non-steroidal, anti-inflammatory drugs, including COX1 and COX2 inhibitors. Ginger is not pharmaceutical, but it is one of the most natural and ancient medicines from nature. Ginger turns off genes associated with inflammation. Pretty cool!
Turmeric is just as awesome as ginger. Its main compound is called curcumin, which has been proved to reduce inflammation in many studies. It is great for your skin as well! In fact, it serves as the main ingredient in many traditional Indian skincare regimens. A word of caution – turmeric has a strong, orange color that can stain, however, there are many techniques for removing turmeric from your skin or utensils, such as using water and sugar.
Perhaps garlic bread is not a health food, but it for sure has a super-great health food ingredient. Garlic has been known to help people with arthritis, reduce cholesterol, improve blood pressure and improve bone health. It contains sulfur that inhibits inflammation, so therefore, it is great for any pain or silent inflammation in your body. Just not on the first date, okay?!
Who doesn’t love Italian food? I have good news for you – oregano, often used in Italian cuisine, is great for inflammation. It is also a great source for antimicrobial compounds and antioxidants. It is protective against cancer and is helpful for many issues, including muscle pain, headaches, bloating, allergies, earaches and more.
Rosemary is another popular, yet super potent spice. It is an herb often used in the Mediterranean full of calcium and iron. It is a wonderful antioxidant. It is rich in anti-inflammatory compounds. Rosemary also boosts your immunity. It can improve circulation as well.
