Turmeric, turmeric, oh, dear turmeric…
I seem to write about turmeric often, but there is a reason for it. I love turmeric.
Turmeric is by far one of the most powerful, natural and remedying herbs out there. It is a true superfood. I think it also tastes delicious and has such a beautiful color.
In case you don’t know, here are the top 5 powerful benefits of turmeric:
1. Turmeric Reduces Inflammation Naturally
Inflammation is the number one underlying cause of chronic diseases, autoimmune disorders and emotional issues. Turmeric is one of the most potent herbs that fights inflammation naturally and has been used in natural healing for centuries. It has proven to be more potent than aspirin and ibuprofen.
2. Turmeric Helps Alzheimer’s Symptoms
Turmeric is a powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory plant medicine. It helps your brain power and boosts cognitive function. The curcumin content of turmeric helps to break through any plaques in the brain of Alzheimer’s patients and as a result can improve their memory, ease their anxiety and decrease their irritability. Overall, it can increase the quality of life of those with Alzheimer’s.
3. Turmeric Is Good For You Heart
Turmeric helps to prevent and to reduce the buildup of bad cholesterol in your body. As a result it provides protection against stroke, heart attack and heart disease. Turmeric is a necessary addition to a hearty diet.
4. Turmeric May Prevent Cancer
The research on the ability of turmeric helping cancer is still limited, but is promising. They have found that rats that were given turmeric were protected from colon, stomach and skin cancer.
5. Turmeric May Help Diabetes
Turmeric seems to also be beneficial for Type 2 Diabetes patients. According to a study comparing a group given curcumin versus a group given a placebo, within a 9 month period, 16% of the placebo group developed diabetes, whereas nobody from the turmeric group did. Turmeric also improves metabolic function, which is very beneficial in preventing and helping diabetes.
How You Can Use Turmeric
You can use turmeric in so many ways:
- Simply slice or grate fresh turmeric and add it to your salads.
- Season your roasted or steamed vegetables and potatoes with turmeric.
- Season your soups with turmeric.
- Try Indian food with turmeric.
- Add turmeric to your green juice.
- Make turmeric tea or golden milk.
- Take turmeric supplements. You can buy our Organifi Turmeric Supplement in our store. It is 4 times more potent than other brands; I have definitely noticed a difference since taking it.
