Looks like your breakfast muffin, your turkey-bacon-avocado on focaccia, your wheat thins and ritz crackers, those brownies you had for dessert… they are all aging you faster than you should.

By aging, what do I mean? More than just the wrinkles on the outside.

Aging is happening EVERYWHERE in your body. Your skin, your joints, the rate your organs are functioning, how well your metabolism runs… these are all things that naturally decline as you get older.

Advanced glycation end products (AGEs) are proteins or lipids that become glycated as a result of exposure to sugar. These compounds are a culprit in the development of degenerative disease, such as diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease, chronic renal failure and atherosclerosis can speed up the aging process dramatically.

So if sugar is the cause of AGEs, then why is wheat a problem?

Wheat contains a carbohydrate called Amylopectin-A, which actually can spike your blood sugar higher than pure table sugar!

Basically meaning that when you eat a slice of bread, it has the same effect on your blood sugar as if you had eaten a sugary treat.

Here are some numbers to show my point:

Studies have found that 2 slices of whole wheat toast spikes blood sugar levels from 86 to 155 within just 45 minutes!

The good news is, life isn’t so bad without wheat. If you can, try to eliminate it entirely. Or at least keep it out of your own home and only eat it when out with friends or if family members are feeding you.
