This Plant Food Is Harming Your Heart and Increasing Your Waistline

Have you been struggling on and off for years trying to get to your target weight?

What if I told you that there is a food you are eating every day that is destroying your metabolism, messing up your hormones and even putting you at risk for heart disease, type 2 diabetes and Alzheimer’s disease?

That may seem a little extreme, but studies have found that this everyday staple has the potential to wreak havoc on your health and wellbeing.

I know you don’t want to hear that. I KNOW you love wheat! I use to love it too, but facts are facts and as much as I love pizza or a good ol’ PB&J, I love my healthy, energy-filled life a LOT more.

Here’s 3 reasons why you should kick the wheat habit asap!

#1 Blood Sugar Disruption

Not a lot of people know this, but eating a slice of bread has the same effect on your blood sugar levels as eating a spoonful of plain table sugar!

That’s because wheat contains a carbohydrate that spikes your blood sugar levels like crazy! So that whole-wheat toast you’re eating for breakfast? Not doing you good my friend!

Why not swap your bread for a lettuce wrap – or they even have paleo wraps now that are coconut based and so good!

#2 Leaky Gut

It doesn’t matter if you’re gluten sensitive or not – gluten causes inflammation in the gut and also makes your gut LEAKY. Research has proven this again and again! Leaky gut means things can slip through the lining of your gut and cause skin breakouts, allergies, food intolerances, fatigue, mood disorders and more.

#3 Block Nutrient Absorption

Wheat contains anti nutrients that block the absorption of certain vitamins and minerals in your body. Studies have found that only two slices of bread is enough to block iron absorption by 90%!

This is something most Americans eat with EVERY meal! That means with all the good food they may be eating they are also eating something that BLOCKS their ability to absorb much of the nutrients!!

People are walking around starving for real nutrients even though we live in a county with more food than we can handle.

What’s the solution? KICK THE WHEAT HABIT.

I know it sounds impossible, but it is completely doable and your LIFE is WORTH IT!

Gluten and Dairy Free Quinoa Pizza

Inspiration from One Green Planet

1 cup quinoa, soaked for 8 hours and drained

½ cup water

2 tbsp coconut oil

¾ tsp sea salt

2 cloves garlic, sliced

1 tbsp italian seasoning

1 tbsp nutritional yeast


Vegan cheese of choice (almond is great!)

Marinara sauce


Roasted peppers

Red onions, sliced thin


Tomato slices  

… or whatever your heart desires!


  1. Add all of the ingredients to a food processor or a high-speed blender and combine until the dough resembles pancake batter. Adjust the water as needed.
  2. Preheat your oven to 450 degrees and coat either a cast iron skillet or an 8-inch round cake pan with 3 TB. coconut oil. Allow the skillet or cake pan to heat up in the oven for about 10 minutes (this is good to do while you’re preparing the dough and chopping the veggies). Remove skillet/cake pan from the oven and immediately add the quinoa “dough,” using a spatula to even it out as needed. Place the dough in the oven to bake for 20 minutes. Flip the dough and bake for another 10 minutes, or until brown and crispy.
  3. Add toppings
  4. then place the pizza in the oven under the broiler after adding the toppings just to heat everything up a bit.  (About 5 – 8 minutes).
  5. Top with basil leaves and enjoy!
