Every year American consumers spend millions of dollars on ENZYMES.
Basically, you NEED enzymes in order to stay alive! In fact, a lack of enzymes is a root to many different diseases that are prevalent today.
The body creates enzymes naturally and also gets them from RAW, living foods.
One of the most important types of enzymes are digestive enzymes. These are responsible for breaking down food and making it easier to absorb by the body. These are created in the mouth by the saliva glands, in the stomach and by the pancreas.

I have a friend who used to cut up a papaya and lay it over a piece of steak. Over time the papaya would actually cause the steak to deteriorate! Now THOSE are some powerful enzymes!!
Papain is one of the most effective and powerful enzymes at breaking down protein, particularly meat. When you eat papaya before, alongside or after a meal containing meat, it will speed up digestion and help to more effectively break down difficult proteins such as gluten and casein.
When taken on an empty stomach or in a smoothie, a greater amount of the papaya enzymes are able to pass into the small intestine and into the bloodstream. Once absorbed into the bloodstream, they have potent anti-inflammatory effects on the rest of the body.
Many studies have been done to test the effects of papaya on the immune system. Because papaya is high in antioxidants and enzymes, they have been shown to have very positive effects on boosting the immune system and helping to strengthen it against illness and disease.
