The Path To Leadership – Mindset Monday

“A leader is someone you choose to follow to a place where you wouldn’t go by yourself.” – Joel Barker

Leadership. That is a powerful word.

Did you know that the root word behind leader is PATHFINDER?

Who do you think of when you think of leaders?

I’ll bet that a lot of the greatest leaders in history didn’t initially set out to be leaders; instead, they became leaders as they developed themselves into someone worth looking up to.

But if you were to take a leader and break down the qualities that make them a great one, what would you find?

1. Be Willing Not To Be Liked By Everyone

“There is only one way to avoid criticism: do nothing, say nothing and be nothing.” – Aristotle

Being a leader can be a lonely path. There is always going to be someone who doesn’t like what you have to say. The only way to avoid that is… well… not saying anything at all! But a leader must stand up for what they believe in no matter who is going to hate on them for it.

2. Recognize A Mission Bigger Than Yourself

“You must find something you want to live for that’s bigger than yourself – a mission – whether it’s your children, a business, a non-profit, whatever. That pulls you to achieve, which is far more sustainable than to push yourself to. You can only push yourself for so long.” – Tony Robbins

A leader looks outward at the bigger picture. They see something bigger and more grand than just their mission alone. They see the lives of those they are able to impact. They see the future they are helping to create for the next generations. They are driven by a purpose that expands their soul and connects them to the entire world.

3. Call Out The Greatness Of Others

“If you wish your merit to be known, acknowledge that of other people.” – Proverb

Give the people watching you opportunities for greatness. Give them an opportunity to shine. Acknowledge people by looking right into their eyes. Notice them without distraction.

Acknowledgement is one of the most powerful things you can give to the people who follow you.

Recognize how you are giving people opportunities. By being a worthy leader, you could be potentially changing the trajectory of the people who follow you. You are handing them opportunities for greatness and expansion.

4. Delegation

“You can do anything but you can’t do everything.” – David Allen

A lot of people with great ideas feel like they have to do everything themselves. No one can do it as good as them, after all. But a leader knows how to delegate and trust other people to do a good job.

When you take personal responsibility for everything in your business, it is like carrying around a backpack full of bricks.

When you let that go and trust people authentically to help you do things, the results are nothing short of phenomenal.

Plus, one of the greatest purposes of leaders is to create NEW leaders. And for that to happen – you must create space for potential leaders to grow and shine.

5. Invest In Yourself

“Investing in yourself is the best investment you will ever make. It will not only improve your life, it will improve the lives of all those around you.” – Robin Sharma

I meet with a psychologist once a week. I read books every day. I am constantly talking to and learning from people who know things I do know.

The goal is not to make more money, but to become a better person. The better I become, the better the people around me become. And together, we CAN change the world.

When was the last time you really looked someone in the eyes? Do you know who your followers are? Does their future matter to you?

If we all lead with love, those who follow us will learn to do the same. That’s what this world really needs, isn’t it? Leaders who operate out of love.

Leaders become great, not because of their power, but because of their ability to empower others.

YOU are a leader – that is, if you choose to be. Don’t be afraid of your greatness, my friend. For it’s in your light that others find their path. Shine bright – for yourself and for the world. We need more light-bringers!

Remember, we’re in this together.

What Our Clients Say*

During my FitLife transformation, I lost 70 pounds! That's why I signed up for the protocol, but the most exciting result is that I found ME in the process. I had been hiding under a pile of pounds, self-doubt, and grief! FitLife changed my life and I knew I had to share it with others.

-Lynne, Longwood FL

I started with Fitlife back in 2011-2012…I wrote into Fitlife asking for an extreme amount of help. I was 300 pounds, with high cholesterol, and Drew helped me transform my life. I lost over 130 pounds and I no longer have high cholesterol. Not only did I lose weight, so did my husband, who lost over 70 pounds!
