This is by far one of the most commonly overlooked secrets of losing weight that no one is talking about.
This is for all of you who have tried everything you can think of from diets to regular exercise and STILL are not losing the amount of weight that you would like.
This small detail is something that I have personally done in my own life and didn’t understand the impact until I suddenly noticed that I was 40 pounds lighter!

The Secret Is To Declutter Your Home!
Sounds crazy, doesn’t it? What is surprising about this minimalist living secret is that, when you take the time to dejunk and declutter your life, it impacts your health, self-discipline and eating habits.
I honestly cannot believe how many out-of-the-box thinkers haven’t taken into account the strong impact our environment has on our health. Yes, you should keep filling your kitchens with healthy, living food, but what about the rest of your home? What about your garage and vehicle? Are they packed full of extra things that you haven’t used or don’t need? It is certainly something to think about.
Many Others Have Experienced This To Be True
According to studies done by published Author Peter Walsh, people who have clutter in their homes are 77% more likely to be overweight or obese! That is crazy; perhaps having items stored all over your home symbolically represents how your body holds onto excess weight by storing it in fat cells.

My Personal Story
In early 2014, my husband and I decided that we needed a big change in our life. We wanted to travel and experience life. We knew that we would be traveling for some time and decided that we wanted to leave as little physical possessions in storage as possible.
We decided to sell and give away nearly everything we owned, because we would be moving around a lot. This was a hard decision, because I had been a pack rat my whole life and had memories linked to every object. With help and some tears, I selectively kept what was the most important to me and released the rest.
Though this is an extreme case, the results changed me. Now when I go to buy something, I ask myself, “Do I really need this, or am I buying it just to buy it?” Seeing everything you have in your life as additional luggage makes it easier to become more selective in the quality of items you choose.
If you think about your house as a symbolic representation of your physical body, then you can see the value of this mentality right away. No longer am I eating just to eat, or buying junk food because I am “supposed to.” Now I am choosing quality for myself and my family.
Once my body knew I was serious about my new lifestyle, it started dropping weight and since I was consistent, the weight has stayed off. Not only did I lose weight, but I started spending less, had less stress and grew closer to my partner.
- Take life a layer at a time and take baby steps towards reorganizing and decluttering your life. Perhaps try decluttering one room per week until your whole home is transformed.
- Have a yard sale or give your extra items to charity. There are many homeless shelters that are happy to take clothing and shoes.
- Next time you feel the impulse to buy something new, focus on quality. By getting the item you really want and the one that will last, you will be saving space in your life and symbolically changing your body as well.
