The Easiest & Tastiest Healthy “Candy” Requires Only 1 Ingredient

Written by: Lindsay Sibson

Have you ever had a moment when you think…”HOW did I not know about this before?”

That is exactly what I thought yesterday as I was listening to an audiobook while lounging on the beach (hallelujah for January summers in Australia).

As Michael Greger, author of How Not To Die, was sharing his incredible knowledge of plant-based eating, he mentioned how he loves to eat frozen DATES as a snack.

Now, I’ve chowed down on frozen blueberries and bananas as a healthy sweet and natural treat… but dates? I HAD to try it out and…

Hands down, I had a cloud-parting, sunshine beaming out of my tastebuds and rainbows exploding in my mouth kind of moment. HOW did I not know about this before?

Oh, so simple.

And oh, so tasty.

Throw a bag of dates in your freezer for the easiest and tastiest healthy “candy.”

Frozen dates are chewy and caramel-like, making them the PERFECT alternative when you are jonesing for something sweet.

Health Benefits Of DATES

What makes dates so great? To start, they are:

  • Rich in potassium, a mineral essential to a range of basic physiological processes
  • A great source of dietary fiber
  • Contain copper, an essential trace mineral that helps your body absorb and use iron to form red blood cells

Consuming dates regularly can help:

1. Improve Digestive Health

    • Dates are full of soluble fiber, which is essential for good digestive health, because it pulls water into your digestive tract.

2. Enhance Your Immune System

    • Dates are packed with magnesium, manganese and selenium. Diets rich in selenium are known to help prevent cancer.

3. Give You A Natural Energy Boost

    • Dates are filled with natural sugars to give you energy –  and because they contain fiber, you won’t experience a crash like you would if you ate a sweet treat.

MORE Ways To Enjoy Dates

Even though it really isn’t necessary to think beyond frozen dates (they are THAT good), there are countless other ways to enjoy these chewy pieces of goodness:

  • Add them into your smoothie
  • Mix then into a homemade energy bar, such as this Chocolate Chia Nut Butter Bar
  • Chop ‘em up and toss ‘em into your salad to give it a sweet touch

During my FitLife transformation, I lost 70 pounds! That's why I signed up for the protocol, but the most exciting result is that I found ME in the process. I had been hiding under a pile of pounds, self-doubt, and grief! FitLife changed my life and I knew I had to share it with others.

-Lynne, Longwood FL

I started with Fitlife back in 2011-2012…I wrote into Fitlife asking for an extreme amount of help. I was 300 pounds, with high cholesterol, and Drew helped me transform my life. I lost over 130 pounds and I no longer have high cholesterol. Not only did I lose weight, so did my husband, who lost over 70 pounds!
