What inspired me: One day I decided ENOUGH IS ENOUGH, I made a choice to stop coming up with excuses as to why I didn't have the time to take control of my weight and take action. I struggled with depression and realized that I used food to sooth my pain and worries. I quickly gained over 40lb in about 18 months.
I ran into an old classmate and he asked, " So how far along are you? My wife is pregnant too" WOW!! If that wasn't a wakeup call, I am not sure what would be. As I thought about it the more I realized that it was not so much about losing the weight as it was about being HEALTHY!!
I went to see a nutritionist who quickly informed me that she was really worried because my body fat % was OVER 40%!! My father died of a heart attack and to hear a Dr. tell me that she is worried that I would end up on the same path scared me. I knew that it was time to get my body AND my mind right.
I began meditating each morning before my workout and truly seeing and feeling what it would be like to be HEALTHY, I placed pictures of fit/trim girls on my vision board and realized that I needed my MIND to be healthy in order for my body to follow.

Every morning after the giant green drink in the book I told myself: “I am happy, healthy and strong! I now fill my body with fresh healthy foods that feed my body, mind and soul.”
Cutting Sugar: In December I made the decision to cut out all sugar until the new year (who DOES that during the holidays???) I was always the type to boxed up the rest of my dinner so I wouldn’t be too full to order dessert. So, let’s just say it was definitely a challenge!! I have always had the ultimate “sweet tooth”.
Although it was difficult to give up the sweets. I made it 56 days without any sort of sugar and figured if I could accomplish that, I might as well also cut out bread and pasta too! (I eventually cut out most dairy as well). I now stick to lean protein, vegetables and legumes for each meal and made sure to eat fresh and organic as often as possible.
Per Drew's advice I incorporated 5 spices that made it easier to curb hunger and lose weight, and boy o' boy was he right!!
