<h2>Here are some things you should get out of your 5 Day Juice Fast</h2>
<h3>1. What is controlling you?</h3>
<p>You will start to realize how much food controls you ALL day long. How we are so hardwired to always be thinking about what's next to eat. Or the false I'm hungry that is often disguised with dehydration.</p>
<h3>2. Bring attention to what is consuming you</h3>
<p style="text-align: left;">When we are not so consumed with what to consume it allows us to spend more time thinking about where we are in life.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">It allows us to contemplate things that we normally wouldn't think about because we are too busy. You also start to see all of the little things that once bothered you to be some of your most cherished things. You will start to see these types of things as lessons and teachers.</p>

You will need time to rest to become a brighter version of yourself. One of my favorite things to do during a fast is to get back to my spiritual life.</p>

You can reach this level by doing a 24 hour fast as well. One of my personal favorite ways to do this is to start after lunch one day and finish the next day around lunch.</p>

<p>Kids are constantly exposed to processed foods. Whether or not we feed processed foods to our kids, they will eat it from time to time.</p>
<p>It is vital to our digestive system, and our overall health that we consume foods that detox our bodies regularly and from time to time, we all need to do a simple detox program.</p>
<p>Here is a simple guide to a 3-day detox for your child:</p>
<p><b><i>Day 1</i></b></p>
<p><b><i><a href="https://vt122.infusionsoft.com/go/detoxforchild/a9/" target="_blank"><img class="wp-image-25943 alignright" alt="Tea" src="http://fitlife.tv/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/Tea.jpg" width="260" height="279" /></a></i></b></p>
<p align="justify">Only clear liquids and herbal teas. Clear vegetable broths and freshly juiced fruit juices are usually the most popular and well tolerated with the kids. Freshly juices apples and non-sweetened cranberry juices are particularly cleansing. You can also make homemade Jell-O using fruit juices--just follow the directions on an unflavored gelatin packet. You can give your child fruit juice popsicles, but make your own to avoid added sugar and/or artificial sweeteners. Give them homemade lemonade by using the juice of 2 lemons in water sweetened w/agave or raw honey. This can be served warm or cold, 2 times on the first day. If the child becomes particularly irritable, give him/her a blend of chamomile tea, sweetened with raw honey or maple syrup. These herbs help calm the nervous system and aid the child in getting enough rest.</p>
<p><b><i>Day 2</i></b></p>
<p><b><i><a href="https://vt122.infusionsoft.com/go/detoxforchild/a9/" target="_blank"><img class="size-full wp-image-25945 alignleft" alt="soup" src="http://fitlife.tv/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/soup.jpg" width="240" height="180" /></a></i></b></p>
<p>On day two, begin introducing thicker liquids such as soups (again homemade is always better to control ingredients) and easy to digest foods. (See recipes below)</p>
<p align="justify">You can reintroduce raw fruits and vegetables. A balanced diet of approximately 50 percent raw and 50 percent cooked is ideal during the detox. Introduce foods like: oatmeal, cooked brown rice, vegetable stews. You may also prepare organic eggs in whatever way your child prefers. Unsweetened dried fruits make healthy snacks. Yogurt is another healthy option that children enjoy and is a good source of good bacteria for a healthy colon.</p>
<p><b><i>Day 3</i></b></p>
<p align="justify">Resume a normal healthy diet, but eliminate all processed foods or ones with chemicals, dyes and preservatives. All deep fried foods should also be avoided. Dairy, poultry, and fish products are healthy in limited quantities and best if organic. I would avoid beef products. Always have on hand plenty of whole fruits and vegetables, and nuts; you can also flavor them with spices and herbs —remember herbs are one of nature's medicines, and will keep your child fuller longer and not feeling deprived.</p>
<p align="justify">One of the best times to detox is if you child is showing signs of a cold, congestion, or other imbalances and minor illnesses. Look for signs that your child need to detox. Fatigue, irritability, sluggish digestion, loose or hard stools or constipation; headaches, acute backache, runny nose, cough or lung congestion and strong smelling urine: these are all signs your child is acidic or in need of a detox.</p>
<p align="justify">Make sure the child drinks 6 to 8 glasses of water a day. For children, a glass should be at least 4 ounces (depending on age &amp; weight). The easiest way to measure your child’s water intake is by taking their body weight in pounds and covert it to ounces, have your child drink half their bodyweight in ounces. So if your child is 80lbs, he/she would need a minimum of 40oz of water daily.</p>
<p align="justify">Again, make sure you have plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables on hand. Having a juicer is helpful, but not necessary.  Happy detoxing!</p>

<p><b>Cauliflower Soup</b></p>

<p><b> </b><b>Ingredients:</b></p>
<p>1 cup fresh bread crumbs</p>
<p>4 Tbs. olive oil</p>
<p>3 Tbs. chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley</p>
<p>1 1/2 tsp. lemon zest</p>
<p>Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper, to taste</p>
<p>1 onion, diced</p>
<p>3 celery stalks, diced</p>
<p>1 head cauliflower, trimmed and cut into florets</p>
<p>5 cups chicken or vegetable stock, plus more as needed</p>
<p>1 Tbs. fresh lemon juice (optional)</p>
<p align="justify">In a Dutch oven over medium heat, 2 Tbs. olive oil. Add the onion, shallots and celery and cook, stirring occasionally, until softened, 8 to 10 minutes. Add the cauliflower and cook, stirring occasionally, for 1 to 2 minutes. Season with salt and pepper. Add the 5 cups stock, increase the heat to medium-high and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to medium-low, cover and simmer until the cauliflower is tender, about 30 minutes.</p>
<p align="justify">Using an immersion blender, strain veggies from liquid and puree until smooth. Adjust the seasonings with salt and pepper to taste. Stir in the lemon juice. <p><b>Zucchini Soup</b></p>
<p><b><a href="https://vt122.infusionsoft.com/go/detoxforchild/a9/" target="_blank"><img class="wp-image-25947 alignleft" alt="Zuccihni soup" src="http://fitlife.tv/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/Zuccihni-soup.jpg" width="257" height="257" /></a></b></p>
<p>6 small to medium zucchini</p>
<p>½ cup chopped white onion (fresh or frozen)</p>
<p>Handful of chopped Italian parsley</p>
<p>1 clove of garlic</p>
<p>2 cups hot water</p>
<p>2 tablespoons light olive oil</p>
<p>Salt and pepper to taste</p>
<p>Instructions: Pour olive oil into pan, add onion and cook until edges are starting to brown. Chop zucchini into small pieces. I cut the ends off, slice in half and in half again, making 4 long pieces. Then cut the 4 halves into small pieces. Add zucchini to pan. Cook zucchini and onions until zucchini is almost completely soft. Take garlic clove, press in garlic press and add to zucchini and onion mixture. Add salt and pepper to taste. Add 2 cups of hot water and chopped parsley to pan. Bring to slight boil. Remove all contents from pan and blend in blender or food processor. <p>Note that your body will take some time to readjust to solid food after the juice fast.</p>
<p>Rather than going to a steak house that will make you feel awful, we will give you some tips and tools for coming off the juice fast.</p>
<p><b>Nutritional Aspect</b></p>
<p>For the first 24-48 hours, please try the following:</p>
<p>1. Supplement with Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) - 1 tablespoon with water will help you clean up the mucous in your body.</p>
<p>2. Make some homemade soups.</p>
<p>3. Drink some <span style="color: #3366ff;"><strong><a href="http://fitlife.tv/benefits-warm-water-lemon"><span style="color: #3366ff;">warm water and lemon</span></a></strong></span> first thing in the morning. Lemon is very alkalizing.</p>
<p>After sticking to this routine above for about 24-48 hours, then start to incorporate more solid foods.</p>
<p>Try some fish and white meat that are easier to break down.</p>

It is required to emulsify fats. <strong>What is emulsification?</strong> One can easily understand this concept when washing greasy dishes. It is nearly impossible to properly clean greasy dishes without soap as the soap emulsifies the fat so it can be removed.</p>
<p>Similarly, the gallbladder stores bile and bile acids, which emulsify the fat one eats so it can be properly transported through the intestine into the blood stream.</p>
<p>A poorly functioning gallbladder handicaps your digestive system and can cause gas, abdominal cramping and headaches.</p>
<p>Even worse is the pain associated with the dreaded gallstones, solid accumulations of bile and cholesterol that need to be cleansed from your system. This is often manifested through a pain in the right hand side of your abdomen. Patients should always consult their doctor if they feel this pain.</p>
<p>After doing hours of research and testing different detoxes in my own life, I found one that I approve of below.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><strong>Dr. Hulda Clark's modified method</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">The following method is a modification and/or combination of the best parts of all the previous methods I've looked at. It was developed by Dr. Hulda Clark. This method is by far the easiest on the palate and just as effective or perhaps even more effective than the above described methods. In the Hulda Clark method there is more protocol to follow but, less oil to swallow - sounds better already.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><strong>You will need:</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Epsom Salts: 4 tablespoons<br />
Olive Oil: 1/2 cup (4 ounces) Note: Light olive oil can be used but, organic Walnut oil works just as good and has a minimal taste.<br />
Fresh Pink Grapefruit: 1 large or 2 small, enough to make 2/3 to 3/4 cup of juice - buy an extra one just in case.<br />
1-2 large plastic straws to drink the combination with.<br />
A glass jar that can hold at least a pint.<br />
Ornithine: 4-8, to help you sleep. A liver cleanse will affect your sleep. Many people find that they do not need this.<br />
As before, this liver cleanse is best done on a day when there are no demands on the individual with a following day to rest and to allow the cleansing process to take its full course - a weekend is a good idea. On that day avoid all unnecessary vitamins, supplements, pills etc. Eating only easily digested foods such as cooked grains/cereals, fresh fruit, fruit juices, breads, honey, baked potatoes and the like until 2 pm. No more food should be eaten that day after 2:00 PM. This relaxes the organs before the cleanse. Eating after this time will result in possible stomach upset and generally interferes with the liver cleanse.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><strong>At 2:00 PM </strong>prepare the Epsom Salts. This can be done two ways: You can either mix 4 tablespoons of Epsom Salts in 3 cups of water and keep in a jar ready for the subsequently required doses of 3/4 glass per dose or, you can also take 1 tablespoon of the Epsom salts followed by a glass of water for each required dose. (It was also suggested that the premixed Epsom Salts be placed into the refrigerator for the sake of taste but, seeing as the Salts tend to produce dilation the cold works against it. Needless to say, it is hard to work against the dilating force of the Epsom salts)</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">From this point on the timing is critical so be sure to precisely follow the times indicated also, do not worry about eating for the rest of the day as you will likely not feel hungry.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><strong>At 6:00 PM </strong>it is time for the first serving of Epsom Salts with water as described above. If more than one glass of water is needed to help rinse the mouth, that is fine. In the mean time the oil and juice can be placed out to assume room temperature.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><strong>At 8:00 PM</strong> it is time for the second serving of Epsom Salts and water.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><strong>At 9:45 PM</strong> start preparing the oil and grapefruit cocktail. Measure 1/2 cup oil and 1/2 to 3/4 cup freshly squeezed grapefruit juice into a sealable glass jar. Remember that after drinking your oil and grapefruit cocktail you will be going to bed so prepare for bed and if you need to visit the bathroom do this in advance.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><strong>At 10:00 PM</strong> it is time to drink the oil and grapefruit juice combination. Before drinking it put the lid onto the jar it is in and shake it vigorously. This will make the oil and grapefruit juice almost emulsify. Only the fresh grapefruit juice will do this. Surprisingly, it is much easier to get this combination down drinking it through the plastic straw(s). Drink it standing up! You want the oil to go directly into the stomach and not linger in your throat. Again, if you decided to use Walnut oil instead of olive oil you will hardly notice that you are even drinking oil. If you decide on olive oil some have used cinnamon, brown sugar and even ketchup or cognac to chase it down with. In general, it will be down in less than 5 minutes -15 minutes for the more sensitive. If a person intends to take the ornithine they will take it while they are drinking. Some will prepare in advance a chaser of freshly made lemonade ( freshly squeezes juice of ripe lemons mixed with water)</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">After the combination has been swallowed go to bed right away laying flat on your back with your head elevated with pillows and still for about 20 minutes and then go to sleep. At this point or at some point throughout the night it is not uncommon to actually feel the gall stones moving through the bile ducts.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">The Morning After take another serving of the Epsom Salts no earlier than 6:00 AM. If there is any indigestion or nausea wait until it passes before taking the Epsom Salts. Some take a tablespoon of dry oats to help the nausea pass. It works rather quickly. If you wish you can go back to bed.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><strong>After 2 Hours</strong> the last dose of Epsom Salts is to be taken. If you wish to go back to bed you certainly may.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><strong>After 2 More Hours</strong> you can eat. Remember to eat lightly. Fresh fruit juice, fresh fruit cooked oats etc. moving to more regular food later in the day.</p>

Although the benefits of green juicing were enormous, the amount of time and effort it takes to juice a day's worth was not exactly enticing, and then green juice experts will tell you that the benefits decline as you store your freshly juiced vegetables and fruits. As an engineer, mom, blogger and a fitness junkie, I felt like this was an ordeal I could not overcome. Identify obstacles that stop or de-motivate you from sticking to a healthy lifestyle as beneficial as green juicing.</p>
<p><b>1. Add Green Juicing to your Daily Calendar</b></p>

<p>We all have great ideas and projects we would love to accomplish over a certain period and sometimes because we fail to pencil them down, we forget about it, and let other things in our lives wash over them. The same applies to living a healthy lifestyle, it always comes with so much commitment and we always fall short, everybody falls short. But, if you can just add Green Juicing (<a href="http://fitlife.tv/3-green-smoothies/">Click here</a> for some great smoothie recipes) to your daily habits (it only takes 30 days to form a habit by the way), you will be doing yourself and your future a huge favor.</p>
<p><b>2. Plan It, Don't Panic</b></p>

<p>The first couple of days were rough. It took me forever to get my vegetables cleaned, assemble my juicer, juice and then clean up. At that point, I felt like giving up. But as the days went by, I got smarter, leaner and meaner. I quickly incorporated lean manufacturing techniques from work, and cleaned my vegetables the night before, the beets were usually diced the previous evening too, so I don't get my kitchen all messy before leaving for work. I assembled the juicer before going to bed, and got all my containers out ahead of time.</p>

Establish a Sleep Routine</b></p>

<p>I established a bed time and a wake up time. 6-7 hours of sleep is good for me, so I plan around that time range. I get up daily as early as 4:30am to green juice. At 5:00am, I am meditating and thinking through my to-do list for the day, sipping on oolong tea (a substitute for coffee for me, and perfect at work during meetings when everyone is drinking coffee). At 5:30am, I wake up my three year-old and get everyone ready for the day. By 7:00am, I am at work and knocking things off my list. Studies have shown that people who wake up early are more successful than their peers. They get the most done and they make more money. If you are not sure where your time is going, <a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.fastcompany.com/1839987/what-most-successful-people-do-breakfast">track your time for a week </a>and make adjustments.</p>
<p><b>4. Be Flexible</b></p>

<p>So many things can get in the way of a healthy lifestyle - vacation, a night out with friends, long work hours, and so on. After my commitment to green juicing, I have never missed a day. I just got back from a vacation on the top of the mountain skiing, and I never missed a day green juicing. I partied hard, and green juiced harder. One of my many tricks is having an airtight container for storage and if possible, take your juicer with you.</p>
<p><b>5. Spread the Love</b></p>

<p>Since starting my juicing journey, I got my friends and co-workers involved by talking about it, showing off my results and getting them all excited. After a couple of weeks, they kept seeing dramatic results in my appearance and energy levels, and quickly got onboard. This week, I am embarking on a green juice fast with one of my colleagues who also started green juicing three weeks ago. This simple step solidifies my commitment to green juicing not just at home, but at work as well.</p>
