Sweet & Tangy Turmeric Pineapple-Kraut Recipe That Improves And Remedies Your Gut

Written by: Lindsay Sibson

You’ve wined, dined and celebrated all through the holidays…

But NOW it’s time to get your **t together.

Say whaaaaat?

No, that is not a typo or missing a letter – what you really need to finally “get together” is your GUT.

Those sugary treats, indulgent drinks and heaps of party platters have done a number on your stomach and now your digestion is out of whack.

To improve your digestion STAT, go no further than replacing processed junk foods with probiotic-rich fermented foods.

This sweet and tangy turmeric pineapple-kraut will not only give your gut a “get-it-together” boost, but also ease inflammation throughout your body and leave you feeling vibrant and energetic.

Why Include Fermented Foods In Your Daily Diet?

Your body is full of TRILLIONS of beneficial bacteria that directly affect your health and well being and live in what is called your “microbiome.” They outnumber your human cells 10 to 1!

Every time you eat something, it has an impact on the environment in your gut – and your gut bacteria LOVE fermented foods!

Fermentation preserves the nutrients in food and breaks down the food to a more digestible form.

Eating fermented foods provides:

  • A huge dose of gut remedying probiotics.
  • Balance for your inner ecosystem.
  • Enzymes that help your body break down food, making them easier to digest.
  • Relief from diarrhea, constipation, gas and heartburn.
  • Loads of fiber that keeps your digestive tract healthy.

How To Make Sweet & Tangy Turmeric Pineapple-Kraut

Kraut Brine
  • 2 quart size mason jars
  • 1 head of shredded cabbage
  • 2 cups of pineapple, chopped
  • 1 tbsp organic ground turmeric
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tbsp sea salt

1. In a large bowl, add shredded cabbage, chopped pineapple, grated ginger and sea salt.

      • Massage the mixture with your hands for 5 minutes until it breaks down, releases juices and becomes more soft.
      • Allow to sit for 15 minutes.

2. Add the turmeric to the cabbage and mix with a spoon.

3. Scoop the mixture into the mason jars, filling them halfway.

4. To make the brine, combine the sea salt with 1 cup of hot water until dissolved.

      • Add the remaining water and apple cider vinegar.

5. Pour the brine into the mason jars until an inch from the top.

      • Stir the brine and cabbage until well mixed.
      • Place a lid on the jar loosely (gas will need to escape as it ferments)

6. Set in a cool and dark place for 4-7 days.

      • The kraut will bubble and become cloudy as it ferments. Remove the top  layer of “scum” with a spoon if any appears.

7. Shake the mason jar to mix the brine with the cabbage 1 time each day (this also helps prevent mold).

Storage: Place in the refrigerator and serve cold.

BONUS: Use the extra brine from the sauerkraut as “healthy shots” for an extra dose of gut remedying goodness.

Start improving your digestion by eating a serving of this sweet and tangy turmeric pineapple-kraut TODAY… and everyday!

What Our Clients Say*

During my FitLife transformation, I lost 70 pounds! That's why I signed up for the protocol, but the most exciting result is that I found ME in the process. I had been hiding under a pile of pounds, self-doubt, and grief! FitLife changed my life and I knew I had to share it with others.

-Lynne, Longwood FL

I started with Fitlife back in 2011-2012…I wrote into Fitlife asking for an extreme amount of help. I was 300 pounds, with high cholesterol, and Drew helped me transform my life. I lost over 130 pounds and I no longer have high cholesterol. Not only did I lose weight, so did my husband, who lost over 70 pounds!
