Study Finds That Alcohol Is Worse For Mental Health Than Psychedelics

My friend woke up and her pants were on backwards.

“WHAT happened last night?”

We had come to Baltimore to visit a college friend, which turned into one-too-many alcoholic beverages, standing next to Michael Phelps in a bar (but not remembering) and waking up with a reverse wardrobe.

Boy, am I glad my booze-filled, binge drinking college days are behind me. Phew!

Alcohol is a delightful, fun, delicious, terrifying, dangerous and unpredictable substance. Recent studies have shown that alcohol poses more of a danger to your mental health than psychedelics!

To get started, let’s take a look at the two:

WHAT Is Alcohol?

  • A legal sedative drug that changes the way you feel
  • Produced by the fermentation of fruit and grains
  • Classed as a depressant
  • Composed of the chemical ethanol
  • Legal for people 21 and older

WHAT Are Psychedelics?

HOW Is Alcohol More Dangerous To Your Mental Health?

A study conducted by the Research Council of Norway has found that there is no link between psychedelics and mental health problems or suicidal behavior. To learn more about the study, READ IT HERE.

On the other hand, the U.S. Library of Medicine has concluded that there IS a direct link between alcohol consumption and suicide. Alcohol abuse may lead to suicidality through disinhibition, impulsiveness and impaired judgement, but it may also be used as a means to ease the distress associated with committing an act of suicide.

If you or anyone you know struggles with addiction, here are 3 resources to help you or to share with others:

What Our Clients Say*

During my FitLife transformation, I lost 70 pounds! That's why I signed up for the protocol, but the most exciting result is that I found ME in the process. I had been hiding under a pile of pounds, self-doubt, and grief! FitLife changed my life and I knew I had to share it with others.

-Lynne, Longwood FL

I started with Fitlife back in 2011-2012…I wrote into Fitlife asking for an extreme amount of help. I was 300 pounds, with high cholesterol, and Drew helped me transform my life. I lost over 130 pounds and I no longer have high cholesterol. Not only did I lose weight, so did my husband, who lost over 70 pounds!
