Study Confirms The Amish Have Virtually NO Cancer

When I say Amish, what comes to mind? A simple life, freedom of modern technology and other advancements, traditional clothes and farm work…

After reading this article, good health will be on your list when describing the Amish. Looking at the statistics, the Amish are much healthier than the rest of the population in the U.S. According to a study published in the journal of Cancer Causes and Control, the Amish population have virtually no cancer. When cancer rates are rapidly increasing in the rest of the U.S., practically no cancer sounds shocking.

Here are the reasons why the Amish have no cancer and are generally so healthy:

1. The Amish Do Not Get Vaccinated

Despite of constant government pressure, the Amish still refuse to vaccinate and potentially avoid negative health conditions as results. For example there have been only 3 cases of autism reported of the Amish and those children were actually among the few who have been vaccinated. The Amish generally don’t suffer from learning disabilities either.

2. The Amish Eat Locally Grown Organic Food

If you have been following FitLife.TV for a while, you are aware that processed foods are not good for you health and that it is the best to eat real, whole foods, preferably organic. The Amish avoid packaged and processed foods and instead, grow their own crops and raise their own animals. They eat organic and GMO-free. Since they eat their home-grown foods, it is seasonal and therefore, higher in nutritional value. The Amish are a true example of a healthy, natural and whole foods diet.

3. The Amish Eat Healthy Fats

Western Society tends to fear fat, yet the Amish have a very low obesity rate despite of their higher fat diet due to the dairy products they consume. However, their fat sources don’t come from processed foods, but are all natural and organic. Their diet is high in vitamin K2, a fat soluble vitamin, which is involved with calcium metabolism, helping your bones to stay healthy. But the Standard American Diet is low in K2, promoting osteoporosis instead of bone health.

4. The Amish Are Physically Active

Their activity level likely contributes to the fact that their obesity rate is only 3% versus 31% in the rest of America. They do not use cars and don’t use technology and therefore, are not on their computers all day. Instead they walk a lot and are working on their land as well. Amish men tend to walk 18,000 steps on average, whereas women walk 14,000. As you see, activity doesn’t have to mean joining the gym, getting expensive activewear and using GPS watches and FitBit, it can be as simple as walking, gardening and being on your feet for a significant part of the day.

5. The Amish Live A Stress-Free life

This is likely the most important. Stress is associated with so many modern day health problems, including hormonal imbalances, high blood sugar, obesity, heart disease, adrenal fatigue, elevated cholesterol, chronic pain and mental health issues. Living a slow paced, patient life-style without environmental toxins and modern-day stress certainly helps the Amish.

It is clear why the Amish are so healthy.

But do you have to become Amish to be your healthiest self? Most certainly not. But you can take some pointers from the Amish lifestyle.

Take care of your body more. Get moving, walk, bike, run, be active throughout the day. Reduce and eventually eliminate processed and unnatural foods and start eating a whole foods diet. Organic, local and seasonal are even better. Reduce your time on technology. Reduce stress in your life. Meditate and stretch. Get outside to nature. Start living a more simple and more natural life while not giving up all the pros of modern life either. Take small steps, as every step counts for your health.
