Stop Insomnia TONIGHT With A Banana Peel – Saturday Strategy

Why should you drink Banana Cinnamon Tea?

Well, today I am going to talk about something absolutely mandatory for good health.

A lack of it can cause poor judgement, mood swings, learning problems, an increased risk for accident and injury…

And a SEVERE lack can even cause POOR HEALTH and DISEASE…

What am I talking about?

SLEEP.

Did you know that more than 40% of Americans are walking around with less than the recommended amount of sleep?

Is this alarming to you? Because it sure is to me! And it may be a much bigger deal than most people realize.

When you are SLEEP DEPRIVED and TIRED and you decide to hop in your car… you are just as at risk or more at risk than someone driving DRUNK!

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration estimates that fatigue is a cause of 100,000 auto crashes in the U.S. every year. Something that is totally preventable.

In national surveys 37% of people in America (that’s 103 million people!) have reported falling asleep at the wheel!

Besides making you more dangerous on the road, sleep deprivation can also make you DUMBER.

Physiologically a lack of sleep hurts cognitive processes like thinking and learning. It impairs your ability to learn, your ability to pay attention and your ability to problem solve.  

NOT things you want impaired when you are in school, at work, on the road, heck even your DATING life will suffer with these kinds of impairments!

Insufficient sleep has actually been deemed a public health problem by the Center For Disease Control.

Research has found that not getting enough sleep increases your risk for…

  • Heart disease
  • Heart attacks
  • Heart failure
  • High blood pressure
  • Stroke
  • Diabetes
  • Low sex drive
  • Depression
  • Premature aging
  • Weight gain

How Much Sleep Do I Need?

I haven’t met a lot of people who don’t LIKE to sleep, but I have met A LOT of people who CAN’T seem to sleep. Either because they don’t make the time, they’re distracted at night or they find themselves restless at night with a million thoughts keeping them up.

These are real problems that need to be addressed if you want to live life at the top of your game.

It’s time to make your sleep a PRIORITY.

I’m talking about getting 7-9 solid hours of sleep a night. Studies have shown that adults who get less are just setting themselves up for trouble.

I don’t want you reaching for the sleeping pills right away… these can cause unwanted side effects like making you sleepy in the day, messing with your appetite and digestion and making you dizzy.

There are some excellent sleep-solutions that are NATURAL that should give you no side effects other than a good night’s sleep!

Bananas

Bananas contain high levels of potassium and magnesium, both of which are natural muscle relaxants, and help the body cope with stress.

The highest doses of these minerals are actually found in the PEEL of bananas which is why we are going to use them in our recipe today!

Bananas also contain tryptophan– a substance that was found to help with melatonin secretion at night. Melatonin is a hormone that helps your body clock know when it’s time to sleep.  

Cinnamon

Research has found that cinnamon helps the body balance blood sugar levels, which is vital to proper hormone function. When hormone function is out of whack you may find yourself too energetic at night and tired during the day.

On to our recipe!

Banana Cinnamon Tea
 
Ingredients
  • 1 banana
  • ¼ tsp cinnamon
  • 3 cups water
Instructions
  1. Cut off the stem and the bottom tip of the banana.
  2. Place the banana in a pot of boiling water.
  3. Boil for 10 minutes.
  4. Sprinkle in cinnamon (to taste).
  5. Allow to cool.
  6. Drink liquid before bedtime. You can also eat the banana if you want!

Remember… you can’t actually “make up” for lost sleep. The best sleep habits are consistent and allow you to get enough sleep every night.

Turn off electronics before bed and sleep in a dark cool room.
