Still Resisting Bone Broth? Here’s A Delicious Health-Boosting Recipe To Get You Started!

 What is bone broth? The simple answer: it’s a liquidy mixture made by simmering animal bones in water for up to 12 hours and offers a myriad of health benefits.

I remember my grandmother and mother would take the bones, slow boil them and pour them in a bowl to serve. Grandma would always say that this broth is medicine to help keep you healthy and make you big and strong.  I am beginning to see the wisdom in what she was saying.

This broth is high in calcium, magnesium, collagen, gelatin, amino acids and phosphorus that are all great for helping rejuvenate the gut, improve digestion, support joint tissue, boost the immune system, preserve skin elasticity and so much more.

But if this is not enough convince you, here is a recipe for good bone broth and a recipe that involves bone broth to help kick off your interest in this amazing, remedying mixture.

***Remember to pick bones of grass-fed and pastured/organic if going with red meat and if you choose the poultry route, choose pastured or if going with fish, going wild is best.  Many butchers will actually provide these free if you ask for them!

Delicious Bone Broth
  • 1-2 pounds of marrow bones (I use beef marrow bones)
  • Water enough to cover the bones
  • 1 tsp of sea salt
  • 1 bullion cube
  • 1 tsp of onion powder
  • ½ cup of vinegar (I like apple cider vinegar for a sweeter taste or white vinegar for a savoury taste)
  1. Put in crockpot and let it slow boil for 8 hours or until the meat is pulling off the bone.

Souper Simple Avo-Brodo
  • 2 cups bone broth
  • 2 medium avocados
  • Juice of one lemon
  • 1 tbsp Brain Octane oil (or other MCT oil)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  1. Heat bone broth to at least room temperature to return to a liquid state, or further for a hot soup.
  2. Blend all ingredients until smooth, adding water for a thinner texture if desired.
  3. Serve warm or chilled.
Use extreme caution when blending hot liquids!
