Should You Be Drinking Pickle Juice?

No longer the forgotten step-sister to pickles, pickle juice is forging her own path as a newly hailed superfood.

It’s true. Athletes and nutrition geeks everywhere are hailing the nutritional powers of pickle juice. Say whaaat?

What Pickle Juice Can Do For You:

    • Prevents dehydration. Pickle juice refills your salt levels, which stops you from becoming dehydrated. Some people even swear by it as a hangover remedy!
    • Replenishes electrolytes. Many athletes have begun consuming pickle juice after a workout to promote recovery and muscle growth.
    • Relieves muscle cramps. The magnesium and vinegar content in pickle juice can help to ease muscle cramps, helping you to workout harder and recover more successfully.
    • Eases PMS symptoms. Yep, pickle juice helps with those cramps, too!
    • Fuels your workout. The National Institutes of Health found that consuming high-sodium drinks before exercising can improve thermoregulation (the internal regulation process that stabilizes core temperature) and overall workout performance.
    • Provides relief from heartburn.

How Much Pickle Juice Should You Drink?

To ease muscle cramps and refuel after a workout, drink 2.5 ounces after exercising. According to the New York Times, you will likely experience reduced muscle cramping within a minute and a half. Furthermore, Livestrong reports that “Drinking pickle juice appears to reduce cramping about 45 percent faster than just drinking water”.

So, the next time you finish your jar of pickles, think twice before pouring that golden juice down the drain. Instead, try incorporating it into your pre or post-workout routine and see if it works for you!

What Our Clients Say*

During my FitLife transformation, I lost 70 pounds! That's why I signed up for the protocol, but the most exciting result is that I found ME in the process. I had been hiding under a pile of pounds, self-doubt, and grief! FitLife changed my life and I knew I had to share it with others.

-Lynne, Longwood FL

I started with Fitlife back in 2011-2012…I wrote into Fitlife asking for an extreme amount of help. I was 300 pounds, with high cholesterol, and Drew helped me transform my life. I lost over 130 pounds and I no longer have high cholesterol. Not only did I lose weight, so did my husband, who lost over 70 pounds!
