Shampoo And Conditioner You Should Be Using

There are so many hair products out there these days that claim they moisturize your hair, tame frizz, do this and do that, but do they really do all of those things to help your hair?

While it is easy to love the convenience of store bought shampoos and conditioners, they may not actually be that good for your hair.

Store bought shampoos and conditioners can actually HARM your hair. They contain all sorts of chemicals and toxins that not only cause damage to your hair, but can harm your body as well. Many of us try to eat healthy and organic foods to help keep the toxins and chemicals out of our bodies, but we never really think about our hair.

When you deal with dry hair, it can be very tempting to purchase those store bought shampoos and conditioners that claim to help moisturize dry hair, but instead of doing that, here are a few suggestions that you can try the next time your hair feels dry and brittle.

1. Let The Natural Oils Out. Many people may not realize that washing your hair everyday or every other day is bad for your hair and it can cause damage to the hair follicles. Washing your hair too much or too often can strip your hair of the natural oils that come from your scalp, which leaves it drier and more prone to breaking.

There is really no definite answer as to how long you should go without washing your hair as everyone’s hair is different. Some people can go 2 to 3 days while others may only wash their hair once a week. Find what works for you and go from there.

2. Don’t Let Your Hair Get “Thirsty.” The more moisture added to your hair, the better. If your hair is prone to being dry most of the time, it is best to do a deep conditioning several times a week. Adding an avocado to your hair can help with the moisturizing! Avocados are rich in vitamin E, which can help add and maintain the moisture in your hair.

Mash one ripe avocado and mix it with a little bit of olive oil. Shampoo your hair and apply the mixture throughout your hair. Let the mixture sit in your hair for 30 minutes to an hour and then rinse it out with cold water. If you do not prefer the avocado smell, simply condition your hair to remove the scent.

3. Ditch The Hair Dryer And Straightener. If you can, let your hair air dry after washing it. Using a hair dryer only adds dryness to your hair and using a straightener can literally burn your hair.

4. Use Natural Shampoo And Conditioner. Use these recipes to ensure that you are not adding chemicals and toxins to your hair that can only dry your hair out even more.

  1. Mix all ingredients together in a clean bowl.
  2. Pour the mixture into ice cube trays (you might need 2 trays).
  3. Place the trays with the mixture into the freezer and let them freeze completely.
  4. When you’re ready to use a cube, take out a cube the night before you wash your hair and keep it in a small container in the fridge until you are ready to use it.
  5. Simply use as you would your normal shampoo.

  1. Mash the banana with a fork.
  2. Mix the egg in with the banana. Be sure to mix well.
  3. Add a tablespoon of coconut oil to the mix.
  4. Add a tablespoon of honey and mix well.
  5. Apply a generous amount of the mixture thoroughly all over your hair, scalp and ends.
  6. Leave the mixture on for 30 minutes before rinsing it off with warm water and the natural shampoo.
