Remove Pesky Odors From Your Home Naturally

Written by: Brandi Monasco

There is nothing that I hate more than a nasty, lingering odor in my home. Food going bad, a musky wet towel, that “dog” smell. YUCK! No matter what it is, my nose always seems to find it and it grosses me out.

Unfortunately, bad smells happen in every home whether you like it or not and no matter how much you clean and clean, sometimes a smell can just seem to linger.

It’s common for us to reach for the closest air freshener or fabric refresher to make your home smell better and to remove those pesky smells, but it is not always safe for you and your family. Those store bought household products and smell goodies can pack a punch and are often filled with chemicals and toxins that can do some damage to you and your family’s health, especially if you or someone in your family has an allergy or a respiratory condition such as asthma.

Fortunately, there are a few ways that you can remove those nasty odors and make your home smell fresh and inviting again, all without the use of chemical-laden household products!

  • Ground Coffee: This is my husband’s favorite smell, the smell of coffee brewing. Simply brew your favorite coffee and your entire house will smell wonderful, or you can just grind up your own coffee beans. Not only does grinding up your own coffee beans make your coffee taste better, but you will also have that strong coffee scent to fill your home.
  • Bake Something Yummy: Who doesn’t love the smell of something being baked? Bake some brownies, cookies, or a cake and your house will be filled with that wonderful aroma!
  • Clean With Lemon: Lemon is amazing when it comes to cleaning. It has antibacterial properties that work to remove bacteria off of your counters without the harsh chemicals of household products. Not only that, but your home will be left with that fresh lemony smell!
  • Herb Sachets: Simply grab a few cotton bags and fill them with your favorite dried herbs, spices and flowers. Place the bags in drawers around the house to make your clothes smell good. You can also place them in your closet!
  • Make Your Own Room Spray: You just need some lime juice, baking soda and water. Simply put all these ingredients into a spray bottle and shake it up. The ingredients in this spray neutralize odors and leave your home smelling fresh!

These are great ways to freshen your home without those pesky chemicals! Do you have any other alternative methods for dealing with odor? Share with us in the comments below!

What Our Clients Say*

During my FitLife transformation, I lost 70 pounds! That's why I signed up for the protocol, but the most exciting result is that I found ME in the process. I had been hiding under a pile of pounds, self-doubt, and grief! FitLife changed my life and I knew I had to share it with others.

-Lynne, Longwood FL

I started with Fitlife back in 2011-2012…I wrote into Fitlife asking for an extreme amount of help. I was 300 pounds, with high cholesterol, and Drew helped me transform my life. I lost over 130 pounds and I no longer have high cholesterol. Not only did I lose weight, so did my husband, who lost over 70 pounds!
