Well, if this girl did, she wouldn’t have a house left!

There is nothing more refreshing than the taste of a fresh, ripe pineapple. There’s something about the cool, crisp taste that makes me want to sit down and eat the entire thing! But, really, they are amazing and amazing FOR you too.

Pineapples are spiny on the outside, but sweet on the inside. They are loaded with tons of different vitamins, minerals and enzymes that help your body in a variety of ways.

Check out some of the top reasons they’re so great for you:

  • Pineapples Help With Asthma Prevention. One of the nutrients that is found in pineapple is beta-carotene. Beta-carotene is what gives fruits and vegetables their pretty rich colors. When you eat a fruit or vegetable that contains beta-carotene, your body converts it into vitamin A, which is another vitamin that is essential to your body. One study found that children that had higher levels of vitamin A and beta-carotene in their blood had a reduction in asthma symptoms.
  • Pineapples Keep Your Bones Strong. Manganese is a mineral that is found in pineapples. It is responsible for developing bones and keeping them strong as well as the connective tissues. One study suggests that eating pineapples, since they are filled with manganese, may be helpful in preventing osteoporosis in postmenopausal women.
  • Pineapples Help Your Immune System. One single serving of pineapple has more than 130% of your daily recommended amount of vitamin C. This makes pineapples one of the richest sources of ascorbic acid. Vitamin C is essential for your body because it helps to boost your immune system and helps reduce your chances of catching an illness such as a cold or an infection. Vitamin C also aids in boosting the production of white blood cells and acts as an antioxidant to help your body defend against free radicals. 

Pineapples are amazing to eat just on their own. However, there are other ways that you can incorporate them into your daily diet:

1. Add them into a fruit salad with mandarin oranges, strawberries and grapes. You can even top the salad with shredded coconut.

2. Add pineapple slices or cubes to shrimp or chicken kabobs with cherry tomatoes and onions.

3. Make your own pineapple juice to drink with breakfast.
