Quickly Fade Your Stretch Marks With These Home Remedies

By Kirsten Cowart

S17425802tretch marks are lines on the skin that appear when the skin stretches faster than the elasticity is prepared for. The marks show up when the connective tissue on your outer layer of skin stretches open to reveal the middle layer – or dermis – of your skin. The marks will often start out red and then slowly fade to white over time.

Stretch marks can be caused by rapid growth, often during puberty and during sudden changes in weight such as in pregnancy. These marks show up on the thighs, arms, belly and sides most often and, although they are not painful, they’re typically not a welcome addition to one’s appearance.

There are many tips that can help accelerate the fading of your stretch marks as well as ways to can reduce their occurrences moving forward.

The Fading Process

4. Sugar Scrub – Often used as a natural exfoliant, sugar is one of the best home remedies for stretch marks. To prepare, just add some drops of almond oil and lemon juice to one tablespoon of sugar and stir it up. Then rub the sugar scrub on your skin and let it sit for 8-10 min before taking a shower. If you use this consistently, you will see a huge difference in about one month.

5. Potato Juice – Potatoes are naturally full of vitamins and minerals that promote the growth and repair of new skin cells. Try cutting some thick slices of a medium sized potato and then gently rub them on your stretch marks. After a few minutes of rubbing, allow the area to dry with the juices still on it. Then follow up by washing the area with lukewarm water.

6. Aloe Vera – Aloe Vera is one of the most commonly used homeopathic medicines for the skin. It has some incredible healing properties and has been found to be extremely effective with stretch marks. Apply it daily to your stretch marks, allow it to dry and then wash it away with lukewarm water.

7. Lemon Juice – The natural acid in lemon juice is great for your skin. It helps with acne, scars, skin injuries as well as with stretch marks. Either by itself or mixed with cucumber juice, apply it to your stretch marks. Massage for ten minutes in a circular motion and then rinse with warm water.

8. Olive Oil – Rich in nutrients and antioxidants, olive oil is great for aiding your skin. Try warming the oil slightly and then apply it to your stretch marks. It will improve blood circulation and accelerate the fading process.

9. Cocoa Butter – This butter is famous for its anti-aging and anti-wrinkle uses in the skin world. Try applying it to your stretch marks twice a day with a little massage and let it work its magic.

Apply the mixture to your stretch marks and then allow it to sit for 20 minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water and repeat once a day for a month for best results.

11. Egg Whites – Egg whites help with stretch marks and other ailments because they are full of amino acids and protein. Extract the egg whites then whip them with a fork. After cleaning your skin, apply the egg whites in a thick layer over your skin with a brush. Allow the area to dry and then wash off with cold water.  Then add olive oil or coconut oil to ensure that the skin stays moist. Repeat daily for two weeks.

12. Chamomile Oil, Lavender Oil And Almond Oil – These three oils, when combined, can create an incredible stretch mark fading combination. Try mixing two teaspoons of almond oil, ½ a teaspoon of lavender and ½ of a teaspoon of chamomile oil together. Stir it together and then apply it daily to your stretch marks.

13. Tea Tree Oil – This oil is fantastic for its antiviral, antibiotic and anti-inflammatory uses. It has been known to help with all kinds of different skin problems. Massage tea tree oil into your stretch marks daily.

Remember that, even though it is good to help your skin stay healthy and elastic, you are beautiful regardless.
