America is the most medicated country in the world. Got a problem? Don’t feel 100%? Go to the doctor and get a prescription for a “magic pill” that’s supposed to solve all of your problems.

Nature has given you all of the tools you need to help you heal and increase your chances for a long, healthy life. In fact, you’re most likely already on your way to naturally healing yourself.

Your favorite spices that you use in your everyday life have super powers – you might start to consider yourself a miracle worker!

Check out the magical powers of some of the most commonly used spices and a spooky recipe to help you experience their mystical abilities.

1. Suffering From Joint Pain?

With the cold creeping in on you (that is, if you don’t live in Southern California or any other season-less area), you might feel your joints start to feel a little achey.

If you’re nodding your head in agreement, add some more ginger to your diet. In fact, doctors recommend an increased consumption of ginger to help balance out the body and relieve joint pain in patients with rheumatoid arthritis.

2. Can’t Calm Down?

If you’re like me, the idea of any kind of haunted house or hayride cues an immediate feeling of anxiety. Or maybe you’re just feeling anxious because the stores are shoving Christmas down your throat before you even get to utter the words “Trick-or-Treat.”

Either way, adding a little tryptophan to your diet can help relieve anxiety. Tryptophan is the chemical that makes you feel calm and sleepy after eating all of that turkey on Thanksgiving. This calming chemical is found a few different spices – one being mustard seed. Add some mustard seed to your recipe to give a little spice.

3. Feeling Under the Weather?

There could be a serious reason as to why vampires stay away from garlic – it’s extremely powerful! Garlic is known to boost the function of the immune system. In fact, studies show that garlic can reduce your risk of getting a cold or shorten the length of time you suffer from a cold.

Vampire-Fighting Chicken

Author:
Ingredients
  • 2 (3-pound) whole chickens
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • 40 garlic cloves, peeled
  • 1 ¼ cups fat-free, less-sodium chicken broth
  • 1 cup dry white wine
  • 24 (1/4-inch-thick) slices diagonally cut French bread baguette
  • Chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley (optional)
Instructions
  1. Remove and discard giblets and neck from chickens. Rinse chickens with cold water; pat dry. Trim excess fat; remove skin. Cut each chicken into 8 pieces. Combine butter and oil in a 12-inch nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Sprinkle salt and pepper evenly over chicken. Add half of chicken pieces to pan; cook 2 minutes on each side or until golden. Remove chicken from pan; keep warm. Repeat procedure with remaining chicken.
  2. Reduce heat to medium. Add garlic; cook 1 minute or until garlic begins to brown, stirring frequently. Arrange chicken on top of garlic. Add broth and wine; cover and cook 25 minutes or until chicken is done.
  3. Remove chicken from pan; keep warm. Increase heat to medium-high; cook 10 minutes or until liquid is reduced to about 1 cup. Serve sauce and garlic with chicken and bread. Garnish with chopped parsley, if desired.

4. Need To Smile?

Depression is taking our society by storm. If you’re feeling a little sad, it’s time to boost the chemicals in your brain that allow you to smile a little more – serotonin and dopamine.

Cocoa is the treat that will do the trick. No, this is not a license to demolish the bag of Snickers your co-worker brought to work or the bag of Reeses your children brought back from hours of strolling the streets. Add some natural cocoa into your diet to feel a little more joyful every day!

Homemade Chocolate Bars

Homemade Chocolate Bars
Ingredients
  • ½ cup plus 1 tbsp cacao or cocoa powder
  • 4 tbsp unrefined coconut oil, melted
  • NuNaturals vanilla stevia drops to taste (If you'd prefer to use a liquid sweetener, such as agave or pure maple syrup, use this ratio instead: ¼ cup cocoa powder, ¼ cup coconut oil, 3 tbsp of your liquid sweetener.)
  • Optional extracts, cocoa nibs, or other add-ins
  • Optional 1 extra tbsp oil or water, if it needs to be thinner
Instructions
  1. Combine coconut oil with the liquid sweetener or stevia drops (for the stevia version, I recommend NuNaturals because I find other brands to have an aftertaste).
  2. Stir, then add the cacao powder. Stir stir stir! Stir until it gets thick. Pour into any flat container (or candy molds or smush between layers of wax paper or in ziploc bags). Freeze until solid and store in the freezer.
  3. Once hardened, you can also opt to melt the bars again for chocolate sauce. Or chop them up for healthy 100% sugar-free chocolate chips! If you use the stevia option, these bars are sugar-free.

What Our Clients Say*

During my FitLife transformation, I lost 70 pounds! That's why I signed up for the protocol, but the most exciting result is that I found ME in the process. I had been hiding under a pile of pounds, self-doubt, and grief! FitLife changed my life and I knew I had to share it with others.

-Lynne, Longwood FL

I started with Fitlife back in 2011-2012…I wrote into Fitlife asking for an extreme amount of help. I was 300 pounds, with high cholesterol, and Drew helped me transform my life. I lost over 130 pounds and I no longer have high cholesterol. Not only did I lose weight, so did my husband, who lost over 70 pounds!
