What you eat and drink matters. Certain foods and drinks have the power to create endless health, while others can lead to inflammation and, as a consequence, pain and disease.

What Is pH?

The term pH is short for ‘potential hydrogen.’ It is a measurement of hydrogen ions in a solution – in this case, the solution is your body’s fluids and tissues.

Don’t worry, you don’t have to remember this, this is not a chemistry test after all. All you need to know is that every cell in your body – from healthy cells to potential cancer or otherwise ‘sick’ cells – is affected by your pH balance.

The job of the pH scale is to measure whether your body is alkaline or acidic on a scale from 0 to 14. Any number below 7 means acidic, above 7 is alkaline and 7 is neutral.

Each organ and part in your body has a different pH. Your bowels and skin are, for example, slightly acidic to keep all the bad bacteria away. On the other hand, your saliva is more alkaline. Overall, each part of your body is working together beautifully to create balance and health.

Out of everything in your body, your blood’s pH level is the most important. It should always be between 7.365 and 7.4 to create optimal cellular health.

Your body knows how important your blood’s pH and your overall pH balance is. It is working very hard to create this balanced environment to allow you to be healthy, energetic and healthy.

That’s right. A perfectly balanced pH doesn’t just happen by itself. But you can help your body to create this balance easier.

When you are making poor lifestyle choices, eating processed and acidic foods, putting toxins in your body, being exposed to chemicals and toxins and creating stress in your body, it all leads to a more acidic environment in your body. Your body wants to keep you alive and healthy. It won’t just give up on you. The Relationship Between pH And Your Health

Let’s take a look at the Standard American Diet (SAD). It is filled with processed foods, processed sugars, factory farmed animal products, inorganic foods that have been exposed to chemicals, artificial ingredients and so one.

These foods are NOT good for your body. They create an acidic environment, set the stage for bad bugs (bacteria, yeast, fungi and viruses) and lead to inflammation, digestive issues, liver problems, skin issues, stress, allergies, mental health issues and chronic disease.

Do I Have To Eat ONLY Alkaline Foods? (Hint: No)

Remember, you don’t have to eat a 100% alkaline diet either. Some healthy foods, like nuts and whole grains, tend to be acidic, whereas other healthy foods, including some fruits and most water are neutral or only slightly alkaline.

It is all about creating a balanced pH, eating a balanced diet with mainly alkaline forming foods and some acid-forming healthy food. Testing your pH is not necessary. Remember that your urine’s pH varies depending on the time of day and what you eat. It is the best to test your 2nd urine of the day and keep a chart for a while to gather true averages. The optimum pH for your urine should be between 6.8 and 7.5.
