Nobody likes to be sick, but unfortunately, it’s becoming that time of the year. And even more so, nobody likes to take those sour and disgusting antibiotic pills to treat themselves of their sickness. More often than not, we try to ward off the infection by combating it with home remedies.

Although antibiotics play a vital part in helping you, they do come with some baggage. In addition to the bad taste, many antibiotics have more harmful effects like toxicity to your kidneys or your liver.

But there is a way that you can avoid these harmful effects…  

One remedy that has remarkable antibiotic effects without the list of side effects is oregano oil. This oil has the ability to help a number of diseases. All the penicillin, cephalexin and azithromycin finally have a competitor that works to fight illness without the harmful effects.

Oregano oil has an antimicrobial property. This means that the oil is able to battle the invading organisms to protect you from their harmful effects. The oil is able to destroy the cell walls of invading organisms, which is what destructs invading bacteria and fungi.

In addition to this, the oil also contains a large quantity of phenols, which are chemicals that have beneficial antioxidant property. This means that they are able to combat the damaging chemicals from the environment and organisms. This protects the body’s cells, helping relieve infections and fever fast.

Oregano oil can be used to help yeast infections as well as bacterial infections. Oregano oil also has the power to help with parasitic infections that are caused due to a number of different parasitic worms as well as urinary tract infections and lung infections. You can also use the oregano oil to help with food poisoning.

The best part of using oregano oil is that there aren’t any side effects. This means all those tummy aches, nausea and vomiting, plus the dangerous effects on the kidneys and the liver can be completely avoided.

There are a number of ways to use the oil according to your needs. The goal of any remedy is to make the oil reach the site of infection effectively.

  • For nasal congestion or lung infections, put 2-3 drops of the oil in a vaporizer or diffuser to allow for deep inhalation. This allows the oil to reach the nasal passages and the lungs efficiently.
  • For throat infections, it is advised you mix 2-3 drops of the oil in a glass of warm water and drink it so that the oil reaches the throat.
  • For any skin infections, nail problems or acne, mix the 2-3 drops of the oil in either a cap full of Aloe Vera gel or coconut oil and rub on the affected parts thoroughly. Use a clean cotton applicator for the purpose. Also, avoid applying the oil on sensitive or broken skin as this may cause irritations. 

Oregano oil can also be used to help sores and muscle aches when mixed in some parts with olive oil or coconut oil and used as a massaging liquid.

Plus, you can also drink the oil directly, this will boost your immune system. However, you need to dilute the oil first. Simply add 3-4 drops of the oil to a glass of water and drink the glass 2-3 times in the day, especially before mealtimes. Doing this will also help eliminate bad breath as the oil kills the odor producing bacteria in the mouth so that your mouth can smell fresh once more.

Considering the benefits given above and the extremely easy ways to use it, oregano oil is a must-have in every medicine cabinet. When something gives you all the benefits without the side effects, why not opt for the natural ways rather than the chemical ones?
