Natural Ways To Fight Pimples & Breakouts You’ve Probably Never Thought Of
Written by: Brandi Monasco
Those dreaded pimples.
Sometimes they can pop up on you at the worst times like before a wedding or family portraits.
Pimples are caused when the oil glands in your skin become clogged and infected, which leads to swollen red spots, or lesions, that are filled with pus.
Before you run to the drug store and pick up a bottle filled of chemicals and toxins to treat that pimple that grew overnight though, try a few of these natural home remedies first!
Cucumbers are full of essential vitamins such as vitamins A, C and E as well as essential minerals like potassium, calcium and magnesium. The vitamin E acts as an antioxidant that helps in fighting against free radicals that can cause acne as well as helps in reducing scars. Cucumbers also contain amino acids that help preserve your skin.
They are full of a rich nutrient called silica, which acts as an anti-acne, anti-wrinkle and anti-aging product. The silica replenishes your skin and holds the connective tissue of your skin tightly therefore, helping prevent wrinkles and signs of aging. They aid in cleansing your skin by removing dust, impurities and dead skin cells. No wonder why you see people in movies with cucumbers on their eyes!
Cucumbers are full of water. In fact, they are 90% water and this helps to keep your skin hydrated and moisturized. They also act as a skin toner because of the astringent properties. Using a cucumber on your skin helps reduce acne and acne scars as well as reduces inflammation, redness and pain.
|To use: Take 2 cucumbers and cut them into pieces and soak them in water for about an hour. Strain the cucumbers from the water and then wash your face with them.
Papayas contain an enzyme that helps reduce inflammation from acne breakouts. They also contain vitamin A, which acts as an antioxidant and a skin exfoliator that helps in removing dead skin cells. Since papayas act as an exfoliant, they naturally clean your skin and help to keep it healthy.
Papayas also contain low sodium, which is beneficial for retaining water. Since they retain water, using papayas on your skin helps keep your skin hydrated and smooth. Papayas keep your skin soft just by eating or directly applying it to your Skin.
|To use: Crush a few pieces of papaya to get the juices from the fruit. Apply the juice directly to the breakout area and leave on for 10-15 minutes then wash off.
Using ice on a pimple helps reduce inflammation, swelling and redness that comes along with a breakout. It also helps to get your blood circulating to the affected area. Ice also aids in tightening and shrinking pores that in turn reduces the size of the pimple.
Ice also aids in removing any dirt or oil that could be accumulated on your skin. It helps to clean your face of anything that could cause more breakouts. Using ice on the breakout also makes your skin more permeable so that any topical acne treatments you use are more effective.
|To use: Get some ice and gently press/message it against pimple for 1-2 minutes.
There you have it! Chemical and toxin-free ways to help eliminate and reduce pimples and breakouts. You might even have a few of these ingredients on hand at home! Give them a shot and let us know how it goes!
