Today, we are going to talk about the benefit of being detail oriented. All my fun loving, whimsical readers out there stay with me. I promise you will find value in this information. I know you might be cringing at the idea of focusing on nitty-gritty details, but you can still be whimsical and free while also living a life of excellence.
Benefits Of Being Detail Oriented
There are many benefits to paying attention to the small details in life:
You create deeper connections with people
You become more organized
Your whole mindset shifts
You set yourself up to win
So, why focus on the details? Are you someone who likes looking at the bigger picture? I, myself am a visionary so I get it! Paying attention to details was not a skill that came naturally to me, but became a priority for me to learn later in life so that I could be successful.
If you want to stay organized and focused, you need to shift your mindset to take note of the important details in your life, whether that be in your relationships, your work life, your personal life, etc. Bottom line: it brings you clarity and sets you up to win.
Being detail oriented also really comes down to feeling connected with people. Our connections with others in this life is KEY to spreading our light and making a difference.
When you recognize details and become connected with those details and you REMEMBER little tiny things about someone – something that you talked about in a conversation, something that they sent you in a text message a while back, etc. – those little tiny details can make a massive difference for people.
When you are working to become more detail oriented and connect with others, you can even go so far as to create reminders for yourself and take notes about things people have shared with you so that you can check up with them about them later on and continue developing those connections.
Now that we’ve established the importance of being detail oriented, let’s talk about ways you can become more detail oriented yourself.
3 Ways To Be More Detail Oriented
Become conscious of implementing a detail-oriented mindset and be intentional about it. Be aware and make the choice every day to truly pay close attention to details. Say to yourself every morning, “I choose to focus on the details that serve a higher purpose” and watch it manifest as you take action.
Speak It Into The World
Affirmations and mantras are powerful and can be effective tools in shifting your whole mindset to be more detail oriented. A favorite mantra of mine is “I am productive and efficient and I am blessed to get everything done that needs to be done.” This may sound kind of cheesy, but vocalizing your intents for the day and your life honestly works!
Make Your Bed (no, really…)
Your outward environment plays a huge role on your internal environment. When your bed is made and your closet is dry cleaned and organized, your clothes are folded and you know where everything is to the point you can easily pack and travel within 5 minutes, it plays a huge part in setting up your detail oriented mindset. It gives you perspective; when you can view your outward life at a higher level, you can make decisions not only in the micro, but in the macro cosmic level as well.
Why Successful People Have A Clean Environment
Being detail oriented – especially when you are making your bed everyday, keeping your closet clean, placing your dishes in the sink – allows you to shift your perspective and gives you a more clear, refreshing outlook on life and gives you the space to focus on the important details, rather than on the stresses and messes surrounding you.
If you’re not a bed maker, think of it this way – if making your bed is the first thing you do in the morning, then immediately you have accomplished something and that sets your entire day up to win.
I would challenge you to take a before and after picture from the exact same spot of your unmade bed and your made bed just so you can visually see the difference, because physical clutter is mental clutter. I want you to understand the difference just that one simple change in your room can make. Even if you have clothes strewn everywhere, see how much of an impact that small adjustment – that small shift – can make. Then from there, you can start making more small shifts until before you know it, you are living in a clutter-free – and therefore, stress-free – environment.
Also think about this: if your dream soulmate showed up at your door right now, would you invite them in or would you be embarrassed? It’s those little tweaks like making your bed and things that may seem silly, that may seem superficial and surface level, but they really do connect on a deeper level.

You’ll probably meet some new people who are simply impressed by your energy, because energy is everything – if you’re coming out of a clean environment, it’s freeing energetically; you’re not going to feel heavy, people don’t like to be around energetically “heavy” people, you’re going to feel lighter and free in your own body.

In becoming detail oriented and making these tweaks in your outward environment, you may also actually find that if you’re going through a weight loss transformation, that you lose weight!
This is because cortisol levels are higher when you are stressed and when you are able to de-clutter your life, those cortisol levels begin to DROP, which equates to – you guessed it – balanced weight.
