I have a little quiz I want you to take today. So grab a pen and some paper and answer the following questions. Try to really think about each one and remember scenarios from your life where they may have applied.
Answer each question HONESTLY. No one is going to see this but you.
Do you have a hard time sharing recognition or credit with other people?
Do you feel uneasy and tight inside when you see other people making more money than you?
Do you have a hard time feeling genuinely happy for the success of someone else?
Deep down do you feel like things will always stay the same? When things are bad do you have a hard time thinking they will ever get better?
Do you have a hard time being generous when tipping the waiter?
How many questions did you answer YES to?
If you said yes to any of the above questions, you have something called Scarcity Mentality. Now don’t worry! This is simply a MINDSET ILLNESS and it can be reversed with the proper steps.
And although it may feel like it’s all in your head, shifting your mindset will have immeasurable positive consequences in your life.
Today, I want to teach you how to have an ABUNDANCE MENTALITY. When you embrace the paradigm of abundance, you will begin to see money, success, happiness, worth as nothing but air.
I want you to try something. Take a deep breath with me.
When you breath in, are you worried that there isn’t enough oxygen for both you and I? I would venture to guess that NO, you aren’t worried about the air because you know the air is abundant.
If you learn to have this mindset for everything in your life… well, let’s just say your world is about to change.
Here’s how to do it:
#1 Give More Of What You Want
“Only by giving are you able to receive more than you already have.” – Jim Rohn
Sound counterintuitive? Actually, one of the BEST ways to increase your abundance is to focus on GIVING. When you’re giving, your focus is on how much you HAVE to give, instead of on what you LACK.
Don’t think it will work? Try it! Be more generous with your money. Give bigger tips. Give $10 to someone on the street. I’m not saying you should go on a massive spending spree. You want the focus to be on GIVING without getting anything in return.
#2 Count Your Blessings DAILY
“Better to lose count while naming your blessings than to lose your blessing to counting your troubles.” – Maltbie D. Babcock
Every night I grab a beaded necklace and count my blessings on each of the beads… and if I’ve had a bad day, I do it twice. I promise, if you do this every single day, your world will start to change for the better.
#3 Change Your Financial Vibration
“As you think you vibrate. As you vibrate you attract.” – Abraham-Hicks
Most people have very negative thoughts in association with money. This can come from how you were raised, how the people you look up to talk about money, your own personal experiences, etc. Our feelings about money are usually ingrained from a very young age.
But even though they are deep, they CAN be rewired.
Write these on your mirror, on the dashboard of your car, on the back of your hand… until these thoughts become natural. Through repetition, these thoughts will become pathways in your mind that become easier and easier to think, believe, know and live.
But wait, I have a challenge for you today…
Instead of walking away with just a nice message today, I am sending you away with a challenge! I challenge you to HEAL your scarcity mentality and EMBRACE a life of abundance.
Here’s how you’re going to get started.
Take $20 out of your bank, give it to someone on the street. Anyone who you think could use it more than you. When you give it to them, be sure to look them in the eye. Get on their level. See them as a fellow human being whose worth is greater than all the stars in the sky. Someone who might just be a little down on their luck. Challenge them to pay it forward in some way, even if that’s a smile or opening someone’s door.
