“In the process of letting go you will lose many things from the past, but you will find yourself. It will be a permanent Self, rooted in awareness and creativity. Once you have captured this you have captured the world.” – Deepak Chopra

Have you ever taken time to sit near a river or stream? Just watched it flow forward over boulders and hills with effortless purpose and momentum?

What would happen if that river had to take each boulder it passed and carry it along everywhere it went?

What would happen to that river?

A river may pull debris along with it here and there and a powerful gush of water may even overturn boulders…

But, eventually the river will leave all these behind in its pursuit of motion and freedom.

Now I want to ask you… what boulders have you picked up from your past and refused to set down? Can you feel the weight of the past on your shoulders… holding you back, keeping you stuck and preventing you from BEING… who you truly want to be?

Do any of the following feelings resonate with you?

  • Anger towards people who have wronged you
  • Frustration towards yourself for not being better, stronger or more capable
  • Limited because of things in your life that are holding you back
  • Discouragement about your past failures
  • Embarrassment or guilt about your mistakes
  • Disappointment that your dreams and hard work haven’t paid off
  • Worry about the future

It is normal to feel these things. These emotions and experiences are part of being human.

But they are not meant to be with you forever… they are meant to be felt, processed, learned from and then set aside as we pursue a more purposeful experience on this earth.

I know that you may feel obligated to hold onto these feelings because they seem to be a part of who you are.

The truth is… they HAVE helped to MOLD you into who you are now. They have sculpted your strengths and defined your beauty.

But just as a bodybuilder doesn’t walk onstage with weights in his hands, neither should you be walking on the stage of your life with boulders and bricks because you think they are who you are

Mark Cuban’s Lesson On The Past

Mark Cuban was a man who didn’t carry around his past or let it define his future. The now billionaire owner of the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks had a rocky beginning. He worked all kinds of odd jobs as a young man but was admittedly terrible at most of them. He was a short-order cook but didn’t make very good food. He was a waiter and couldn’t open a bottle of wine.

Something he said when looking back at his life…”I’ve learned that it doesn’t matter how many times you failed. You only have to be right once. I tried to sell powdered milk. I was an idiot lots of times, and I learn from them all.”

Mark Cuban made his fortune when he sold his company to Yahoo for $5.9 billion in stock.

What if he had let all his failures pull him down? What if he had never let go of the fact that he was a terrible cook, or a failure at other jobs… and because of that refused to live up to his potential for a happy future?

How To Let Go Of The Past

If you are someone who has been carrying weights of the past for a long time, you may have even forgotten they are there.

It is time to stop allowing your PAST to interfere with your PRESENT.

How can you do that?

#1 Schedule A Time Of “Letting Go”

“Some of us think holding on makes us strong; but sometimes it is letting go.” – Herman Hesse

Make it an event for yourself. Light candles. Pray. Meditate. Write your feelings on balloons and watch them fly away. Write down regrets and let them float away on water. Have someone walk you through an energy release of the past. Whatever will be the most powerful for you.

#2 Forgiveness

“Everybody’s got a past. The past does not equal the future unless you live there.” – Tony Robbins

Forgive others. Forgive yourself. Forgive God.

#3 Gratitude

Your past has brought you where you are now. Be grateful for who you are in this moment. Every night before you sleep count the things you are grateful for. Gratitude will bring you into the moment and attract abundance.

#4 Create A Mantra

“Holding on is believing that there’s only a past; letting go is knowing that there’s a future.” – Daphne Rose Kingma

This should be something simple but powerful for when you are ruminating about the past or feeling anxious about the future.

“I breath in acceptance. I release expectations.”

“I honor the divinity within me.”

“I release my past and embrace the now.”

You will be thrilled with the freedom and lightness you feel when you learn to let go.

You will find strength and power to move forward. You may have to use these tools over and over again… but when you commit to a path of acceptance it will slowly become easier to make letting go a habit.

What Our Clients Say*

During my FitLife transformation, I lost 70 pounds! That's why I signed up for the protocol, but the most exciting result is that I found ME in the process. I had been hiding under a pile of pounds, self-doubt, and grief! FitLife changed my life and I knew I had to share it with others.

-Lynne, Longwood FL

I started with Fitlife back in 2011-2012…I wrote into Fitlife asking for an extreme amount of help. I was 300 pounds, with high cholesterol, and Drew helped me transform my life. I lost over 130 pounds and I no longer have high cholesterol. Not only did I lose weight, so did my husband, who lost over 70 pounds!
