How To Use (And REUSE) Coffee

By Lindsay Sibson

Did you know that your morning cup of joe is capable of doing so much MORE than just giving you that jolt you need to get your day going?

You have probably been drinking it for years and most likely throw away those used coffee grounds. I’m guilty as well.

HOWEVER, you can actually use coffee and coffee grounds for so much more than simply caffeinating yourself!

Check out how to USE and REUSE coffee:

In Your Garden Soil
  • Use it as a fertilizer for your acid loving plants, such as: azaleas, hydrangeas, rhododendrons, roses and camellias
  • Mix ground with brown leaves and dead grass to  neutralize some of the acidity
    • Spread this mixture around your plants
  • Adds nitrogen and potassium to the soil
    • Also provides a boost of magnesium
  • Helps your plants stay healthy!
Reduce The  Appearance Of Cellulite
  • The caffeine in coffee grounds helps reduce the appearance of cellulite by:
    • Enhancing fat metabolism
    • Increasing circulation
  • The exfoliating properties also help to make your skin smooth and soft
Insect Repellent
  • Sprinkle used coffee grounds around plants to protect them against pests
    • Works for ants, snails and slugs
Enhance Your HAIR
  • Get smooth and shiny hair by mixing coffee grounds with your preferred conditioner
  • Gently massage the mixture into your scalp for a few minutes
    • Exfoliates and stimulates your scalp
    • Use mixture once per week for best results
  • Note: Place a coffee filter over your drain to prevent clogs
Odor Absorber
  • Can be used similar to baking soda to absorb food odors
    • Place a small open container of coffee grounds in your refrigerator and freezer
    • Replace every 3 weeks
Invigorating Face Mask
  • Coffee has an invigorating and stimulating effect on your skin
  • Can help perk up dull skin
  • MIX: coffee grounds, egg (or coconut oil):
    • Apply mask to your face and let it sit for 15 minutes
    • Rinse off with warm water
Hand Cleaner
  • Helps break up dirt and absorb odor
  • Mix grounds with hand soap for a deep scrub
  • Works great to get rid of the smell after chopping garlic!
Repair Scratched Furniture
  • Use for scratched wooden furniture with a dark stain
  • Make a thick paste of coffee and water and rub it into the scratch
“Salt” Your Walkway
  • Dried coffee grounds can be used on icy sidewalks as grit
    • The acid helps melt the ice.
    • Safe for the environment!
Exfoliating Face Scrub
  • Old coffee grounds make a superb facial exfoliant
  • Gently sloughs off dead skin cells
  • Helps freshen your skin, giving you a healthy glow
  • MIX: 4 tablespoons coconut oil, 6 tablespoons coffee grinds, a few drops essential oil of your choice:
    • Combine all ingredients
    • Store in an airtight container
    • To use: scoop out a bit of the mixture and gently rub onto your face in a circular motion
Natural Abrasive
  • Scrub away stuck-on food from dishes and counters by placing old coffee grounds onto a cloth
    • The grounds act as an abrasive to clean up the area

    • Allow to sit for 15 minutes
    • Carefully wash off with water

What Our Clients Say*

During my FitLife transformation, I lost 70 pounds! That's why I signed up for the protocol, but the most exciting result is that I found ME in the process. I had been hiding under a pile of pounds, self-doubt, and grief! FitLife changed my life and I knew I had to share it with others.

-Lynne, Longwood FL

I started with Fitlife back in 2011-2012…I wrote into Fitlife asking for an extreme amount of help. I was 300 pounds, with high cholesterol, and Drew helped me transform my life. I lost over 130 pounds and I no longer have high cholesterol. Not only did I lose weight, so did my husband, who lost over 70 pounds!
