Oh, the sweet serenity of the first few weeks of summer.

As you bask in the warm glow, you can’t help but think that THIS is what life is all about.

However, perhaps you were a bit too eager to achieve that sun-kissed look and skimped on the reapplication of your homemade sunscreen.

And now – YIKES! You are sunburned.

You need relief and you need it FAST. Lucky for you, you can get instant sunburn relief by using essential oils. Check it out below!

Lavender
  • Helps the skin to recover
  • Prevents scarring
  • Helps to cool and ease the burn
  • Possesses tissue regeneration and healing properties
Peppermint
  • Has a soothing effect
  • Helps prevent the itching associated with sunburn
  • Is a natural antiseptic
    • Reduces the possibility of developing an infection

How To Soothe Sunburn With Essential Oils

After Sun Soothing Oil
  • Add 3 drops of lavender and 3 drops of peppermint to a carrier oil (coconut or olive oil work great)
  • Gently massage this mixture onto your skin
Lavender Cold Compress
  • Soak a washcloth in cold water with 5 drops of lavender essential oil
  • Place cold compress on affected areas for 10 minutes
Lavender Bath
  • Fill your bathtub with warm water and add 10 drops of lavender essential oil
    • Optional: add in a handful of oatmeal or baking soda for an extra soothing effect
  • Soak for 15-20 minutes
Soothing Mist Spray
  • In a spray bottle, add 5 drops of lavender and 5 drops of peppermint with 1 cup of water
  • Spray onto your skin as needed
