I have been reading up on Ayurvedic Medicine lately and I’ve got some cool stuff to share with you!

“A-yur-what?!” I thought the same thing at first.

#1 Exercise

I’m talking about exercising your body AND your mind here.

You see, if you’re working out like crazy – and maybe even losing some weight – but in your HEAD you’re still telling yourself that you’re FAT… the pounds are NOT going to stay off.

Please,be gentle with how you talk to yourself in your head where no one else can hear. Self-talk is extremely formative and creates your reality.

This is a secret that will help you lose weight more than ANYTHING else in this video! So commit to loving yourself in all that you do and SAY.

THINK about yourself as if you ALREADY ARE what you WANT TO BE. Declare it.

If you really do that, you will start acting like the beautiful person you ARE – and you’ll  gain confidence, which will show up in all avenues of your life.

#2 Yoga

Did you know that there are certain yoga poses that are DESIGNED to help you lose weight EASIER?

Poses like THIS:

  • Trikonasana (pronounced – trick-oh-nah-sana)

  • Surya Namaskar (pronounced – sir-ya-nama-scar)

  • Bhujangasana (pronounced – boo-john-gah-sana)

#3 Breathe

You might hate this because in your head you’re saying…”well if all I had to do was BREATHE to lose weight, then I don’t think I’d be in this mess at all!!”

Just hold on for a second.

Research has found that women who engaged in deep breathing exercises burned MORE calories than women riding an exercise bike!

Now I’ve got your attention.

Put one hand over your chest and one over your upper abdomen.

Now breathe in.

Breathe out.

Doesn’t that feel good?

This is also a great stress reliever. One of my favorites, actually. Give it a try!

#4 Sleep At Night

According to ayurveda, getting enough sleep at night is vital to real weight loss.

An interesting note – sleeping during the day seems to be counter-productive.

I’m a known napper. A good 20 minute rest is all I need to rejuvenate and go on with my day. But this doesn’t work for everyone. Find what works for you and do more of that.

#5 Massage

Udvartana (pronounced – ood-vare-tana) is a type of dry massage that fights obesity and weight gain, removes cellulite, targets fat molecules, removes toxins and tone skin.

Go ask your therapist if they know how to do it!

#6 Swap Your Coffee For Warm Lemon Water

When you wake up in the morning, your body is usually a little dehydrated. A big glass of water is the best thing to start your day with.

Throw in some fresh squeezed lemon juice and that will alkalize and detoxify your body. Plus, it’s great for digestion!

#7 Mudra (pronounced moo-drah) Therapy

You can do this during your breathing exercises for 15 minutes a day. Put the tip of your index finger to the root of your thumb and apply pressure.

According to ayurveda, this is an effective weight loss tool.

I don’t know about you, but sometimes I get too caught up in what I eat that it starts to stress me out! But it doesn’t have to. Stick to the basics – focusing on whole foods as much as possible and slowly working your way up to a more balanced lifestyle.

Stress, as I am sure you can  imagine, is counterproductive to weight loss. So I hope you can use these tools from ayurveda to help find some balance between mind and body and really start seeing some success in reaching your weight loss goals.
