Here in sunny Southern California, we have been experiencing near-summer temperatures (in February)!

You know what that means? Sun’s out = guns and buns out. It’s time to soak up the sun!

It also means that it is time to slather on some sunscreen to protect that beautiful skin of yours. But of course we don’t want you reaching for those chemical-laden, toxic tubes of sunscreen!

Here are the benefits of Homemade Sunscreen, a chemical-free and all natural solution for protecting your skin:

Lavender Essential Oil
  • Has a calming scent that promotes relaxation (perfect for unwinding on the beach!)
  • Inhibits the generation of free-radicals caused by UVA/UVB radiation
  • Protects against various cancers

How To Make Homemade Sunscreen
  • 10 drops lavender essential oil
  • 1 tbsp pomegranate oil
  • ¾ cup coconut oil
  • 2 tbsp zinc oxide
  • 2 tbsp shea butter
  • Glass jar
  1. Place all ingredients EXCEPT the zinc oxide in the glass jar.
  2. On a stove over medium/low heat, pour 2 inches of water in a saucepan.
  3. Put the glass jar in the saucepan and stir the ingredients until they start to melt.
  4. When all the contents are combined, add the zinc oxide and stir the mixture well.
  5. Store in a cool place.

Now you can enjoy the sunshine knowing that your skin is protected by a chemical-free and all natural sunscreen.
