Fight Colds And The Flu With Baking Soda
Ahhhhh, Fall is here. The kids are back in school. The weather is becoming more fresh and crisp (for some of us), the leaves are changing colors… it’s nature’s beauty at it’s finest.
UNTIL…
AAAAAAAH-chooooo! Cold season happens.
The sneezing, sniffling, coughing, fevers and headaches can sure put a major damper on enjoying this time of year! Even when I hear someone sneeze, it’s enough to make me want to hold my breath in hopes that I don’t “catch” anything.
If you start feeling that little tickle in your throat (or other cold-like symptoms), reach for the baking soda and try this ancient remedy to combat colds and the flu.
This method had been around since the early 1900’s and was documented by Arm & Hammer (who produce baking soda) in 1925 as being an effective and inexpensive method to treat colds and influenza.
With cold and flu season right around the corner, this easy and inexpensive remedy could be the KEY to staying illness-free!
But first let’s take a look at what baking soda actually is.
What is BAKING SODA?
- Also known as sodium bicarbonate
- Derived from a naturally occurring mineral
- Is extremely alkaline
What does BAKING SODA do for you body?
- Can alkalize your entire system
- Reduces acidosis (when your body has increased acidity)
- Balances your body’s pH level
- Neutralizes acidity
- Prevents the contraction of colds and the flu
Here is how to use this safe and natural remedy:
- Each “dose” consists of ½ a teaspoon of baking soda stirred into 1 cup of water.
- Follow this dosing schedule:
Day 1 |
6 doses total taken in 2 hour intervals |
Day 2 |
6 doses total taken in 2 hour intervals |
Day 3 |
2 doses total: 1 morning, 1 night |
Until cured |
Take 1 dose each morning |
Want to take it a step further? Here are 4 more tips to naturally preventing colds and the flu:
1. Wash your hands – Most viruses are spread through direct contact. Wash your hands often!
2. Don’t touch your face – The viruses enter your body through your mouth, nose and eyes. Avoid touching this area on yourself and other people (your children, spouse, partner, etc..).
3. Cover your sneeze safely – DON’T USE YOUR HANDS! Use a tissue or sneeze into the inside of your elbow to help prevent spreading germs.
4. Exercise frequently – Physical movement increases the body’s natural virus-killing cells.
Have a happy, healthy and flu-free season!
