How To Bounce Back If You Overeat On Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is here and you know what that means… Food! Lots of food. Oh and family too. But mainly food.
Many people tend to overeat on Thanksgiving day and sometimes even the few days following Thanksgiving when the festivities are still going on.
But when you are trying to eat healthy and watch how much you eat, Thanksgiving can be a little difficult. You have the turkey, the yams, the pies and desserts and sometimes you just can’t help yourself… and you overeat.
No matter how strict you are on counting your calories or watching what you eat, overeating happens to us all. But just because you had that one (or two) days of overeating, it doesn’t necessarily mean that you have thrown your diet out the window completely. In fact, there are a few ways to bounce back after overeating!
1. Establish A Recovery Meal Plan
Resume your normal eating routine and habits that you had before you overate. Have a satisfying, but not too heavy breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack.
Breakfast: You could start your day off with fresh fruit, lightly buttered toast and a cup of juice. Eating breakfast helps to reset your body as well as rev up your metabolism and helps to prepare your body for eating healthy the rest of the day.
Lunch: Have a light lunch that could include a salad with dark leafy greens and maybe follow up with some fresh fruit.
Afternoon Snack: You will more than likely be hungry in the afternoon, so it is best to have a light, healthy snack. Try eating fresh fruit or veggies or your favorite dairy-free yogurt. Not eating an afternoon snack means that you will be more tempted to overfill your plate at dinner time.
Dinner: Fish, veggies and grains are the best to stick with as well as other clean and organic foods.
2. Stay Hydrated
Water is important for your body, and even more important the day after you overeat. When you are properly hydrated, you feel fuller for longer and you will be able to refrain from overeating again. Be sure to stay away from carbonated and alcoholic drinks.
3. Get Moving
That’s right, get back into the gym. Light exercise is the best when it comes to bouncing back after an overeating session. You probably will not feel like jogging and in fact, it may not be the best thing for your stomach, but you can take a quick walk. Taking a walk will help to speed up your digestion and even out your blood sugar, getting it back into your normal ranges. You can also do yoga. There are certain yoga poses that actually help with your digestive ailments.
