What Himalayan Salt Lamps Can Do for a Stressed, Foggy, and Cluttered Brain

Salt is just salt. Or is it?

Nope. There is a difference between various salts and the queen of all salts is Himalayan pink salt.

Himalayan pink salt is much better for you than regular old table salt as it is loaded with calcium, magnesium, potassium and iron.

But it is not only amazing for your health when eaten – also just having it around is surprisingly beneficial for your health as well!

Himalayan Salt Lamps

They are amazing. They look beautiful. They are pink – yet, not overly girly, but rather calming. AND they are just as abundant in health benefits.

Himalayan salt lamps made from chunks of this powerful substance have been on the market for a while and are loved for their benefits in helping migraines, insomnia, skin conditions, allergies and various other conditions.

According to G.S. Rahi, assistant professor of Physical Science at Fayetteville State University, human beings, just as all other living systems, are bioelectric in nature. This means that your electrically charged particles affect the way you feel and act.

Positive and negative ions contribute to your sensations and perceptions and therefore, affect your physical and emotional health, mental attitude, efficiency and general well-being.

If you place Himalayan salt lamps around your house, they can allow your body to find balance by reducing unhealthy positive ions. This can lead to incredible results very quickly.

Pierce Howard, PHD, agrees that negative ions are awesome for your health. They increase the flow of oxygen to your brain, which provides more alertness, more mental energy and less drowsiness. By regulating your energy levels, they help your sleep cycles as well, keeping you asleep at night and providing alertness during the day.

Himalayan salt lamps may also reduce coughs, sneezing, throat irritations and allergy symptoms by protecting you against germs in the air.

Some disagree with this claim, saying that salt lamps cannot improve air quality at all or lead to health benefits, because salt does not contain any oxygen atoms, but only one sodium and one chloride atom in its molecule.

Sodium is a negative ion, while chloride is positive. A surplus in negative ions is argued to be necessary to lead to benefits, but Himalayan salt lamps do not have negative ion surplus.

As always, more research comes to our rescue with further information. Various brands of Himalayan salt lamps were examined with an ion detector and it was found that more negative ions were produced outside the lamp. The detectors found such a small amount of negative ions near the lamp, that they were unable to tell the exact level of ions at all.

The research is mixed. In practice though, people who use Himalayan salt lamps tend to experience amazing benefits and even magical relief from ailments. I know that I have been experiencing more calmness since having them around the house. Whether it’s from the salt or simply the peaceful pink color – I don’t know, but I do love mine for sure.
